I am pretty confident there will be a last ditch effort to depress election day turnout. Probably an "investigation" of some sort being announced. I wouldn't be surprised if it hit this weekend or early Monday.

You don't wait until after your opponent has banked something like 45+ million votes before you unleash your best ratfucking.

worth noting they're also really bad at this and arguably got lucky last time

Consider however that a remarkably incompetent group of people is running this.

I mean honestly we have a skewed view of the Trump org because of the win in 2016. By all accounts these guys are blisteringly incompetent on a good day.

225k+ Americans can attest to their craven stupidity.

Normally, no you wouldn’t. But Trump and his campaign are running quite possibly the dumbest campaign ever.

Lucky and were aided by a lot of factors that aren't there this time. Like its really telling this time out their go to move is court sanctioned voter suppression. Like beyond the usual GOP bullshit they are flat out trying to sue people out of voting.

I mean he got impeached trying to fuck this election.

That seems kinda weak as its expected dems will be mostly voting early and day of would effect republicans more. If they wanted to depress turnout they should have started whatever last week.

Wasn't one lf the effects of the Comey letter turning out to be a nothingburger is that it energized Trumps base because they thought for sure Hillary was going to get into trouble for it and they got pissed when it didn't happen.

I finally got around to filling out my ballot. I'm in Oregon (all mail), so just need to drop it off at the library. Pretty sure I voted yes on literally everything, or put another way, I voted straight-ticket AGAINST the Washington County Republicans. Even for the campaign finances thing that was like "Supporters: All state senators, both D and R. Opposition: Some Libertarian dude and the Washington County Republican Party." A little disappointed that so many judge positions were unopposed, but not surprised. Only real decision I think I made was for like, some random at large position for water council or something where I went with the retired amateur bee keeper over the guy who linked to his linked-in profile and the person who supplied no information whatsoever. DEMOCRACY.

Pool report: Several attendees were helped out during Trump's remarks by medical personnel because of the heat. Water from a hose or hydrant shot up to cool off attendees.

Trump saw and said: "Are they friend or foe? ... If they're foe, let's take care of those sonofabitches."

Ok. Like who ARE these people going to trump rallies? Like, I still can’t comprehend it after 5 years of this

    Americans. :(

Like half the people in my office. Or go to any gun range. Or any diner more than an hour from a skyscraper.

And it’s the power of propaganda. It’s possible to create a news bubble for yourself where 90% of what you hear is positive about your preferred party, and will tell you how and why you can dismiss the other 10%. They don’t live in the same world you do, they don’t hear the same things you do.

And of course some are just racists and assholes.

But yeah. Americans. Or just people, really.

The people who actively support Trump aren't hidden away in the backwater of America, as some like to think. They're everywhere.

Find the deepest, bluest district in a deep blue state. There's plenty of people in that district who love Trump and hate minorities.

It’s the same reason people think the military is hard conservative. There’s a solid minority everywhere who hates the dominant majority, but keeps their mouth shut because it’s easy to go along to get along. I live in a blue county in a blue state and over half my office are hardcore red hats. It is what it is, so I just don’t talk politics much at work.

Same when I was in the army. Republicans had an edge, and in leadership especially. But plenty of 18-22 year old enlisted dudes are true blue, and just don’t feel it’s worth it to mention that. Especially when dickheads can and will pull rank to get the last word.

Living in Seattle, I knew some Trump supporters. But you didn’t see many signs. Because many that actually live in the city (as opposed to like out in Auburn) just keep their mouth shut. But they show up on the ballot count. They’re a minority, and a small one, but they’re there.

Same for democrats in deep-red districts of rural Montana or Kansas.

I say “any diner more than an hour from a skyscraper” not to imply that there are no Trump supporters downtown. Just that you’ll *hear* them if you get out of downtown. You’ll *hear* them if you go to a gun range near the city. They’re always around. Same way there are liberals in my office, but apparently we have to kinda quietly seek each other out like we’re some kind of underground terrorist organization. Simply because we don’t want to support Trump, or suffer loud one-sided conversations on the topic.

There were 76 votes for Trump in my precinct in 2016. Out of 756 votes cast. Which is about a three block area.

That’s a little more than the ratio of days it rains per year in downtown LA

More that it caused the relatively massive amount of 'undecided voters' in 2016 to breakup heavily for Trump at the very end rather than the more typical 50/50 split that generally happens. This time literally ~half the vote has already been cast and there are far fewer undecided voters to even influence with a November Surprise. Even assuming there is more than Tucker's missing homework to try and smear. The numbers are just incredibly stable.

Trump is repeating his now-usual story about how Biden shouldn't even be the Democratic candidate and it's Elizabeth Warren's fault that he is isn't running against Bernie right now.

I love in the wake of multiple failed attempts at defining Biden Trump is just running on everyone else.

Trump wouldn't want bernie as an opponent; dude would be running a far more aggressive campaign and likely would have backheeled him during both debates.

Hell, he would have probably held a rally in front of the whitehouse while he was there calling him a bitch.

Shocker. That Tucker Carlson shit was fake as... uh, something comically fake. EDIT: Whoops! Not the Tucker Carlson stuff.

The author of the report, a self-identified Swiss security analyst named Martin Aspen, is a fabricated identity, according to analysis by disinformation researchers, who also concluded that Aspen's profile picture was created with an artificial intelligence face generator. The intelligence firm that Aspen lists as his previous employer told NBC News that no one by that name had ever worked for their company, and no one by that name lives in Switzerland, according to public records and social media searches.

One of the original posters of the report, a blogger and professor named Christopher Balding, took credit for writing parts of the document when asked about it by NBC News, and said that Aspen does not exist.

Using an AI face generator is several steps above what I would have expected from Tucker. Like a glimmer of competence.

Standing up to a basic public records check is obviously beyond them but it's almost like they tried, at least a little bit.
