The series opens in the realm of Ravnica, whose planet-sized city is rocked by assassination attempts against three Guildmasters, Ral Zarek, Vraska, and Kaya. The trio will be forced to put aside their differences and travel to the plane of Zendikar to hunt the assassins. Boom is teasing a climactic showdown with a major Magic: The Gathering character.

Early bits Ravnica going into War.
That’s postwar.
Ral and Vraska don’t become guild leaders until the war of the spark and Kaya I wasn’t even aware ever became one.

They're comics, timeline has no meaning.
Comics are a good medium for MTG story. Could be fun.

I assume it’s a loose adaptation with crunchier plot points from a decade of development smoothed over to make the transition

My bad. I though Kaya was one before War. And I blanked on the word Zendikar.
So what does the timeline look like for making sure quests are cleared/weekly gets reset early? Is it when the patch launches, or when kaldheim actually activates, assuming those are different times.
...despite being there for zendikar rising's launch I have no recollection of how it actually shook out heh

It just gives you 3 new quests. And your weekly wins reset, so you can get pass xp for 30 wins total this week. The second 15 will be on the new pass.

This seems like mostly a joke deck. If it's anything more than fringe people will just include Planeswalker removal and the deck becomes 4 bolts and that's it.
I was wanting to watch all the streamers playing early today but everyone I tuned into was playing some form of Green and ughhhhhh... If that's what standard is going to continue to be I guess I'll stay away from it.

Keep in mind that most of the decks played in early access are bad.

yeah part of what makes Ugin powerful is that he comes down and wipes most of your board out. A turn 2 Ugin is tough for some decks to deal with, but there isn't a lot for him to wipe out at that point. And a fair number of decks will then be able to just Swift End or Banishing Light him or whatever.
While cleaning out a closet, I found a booster box of Ravnica Allegiance from which I had apparently not pulled the all the rares. Most of this set is really low value, but I did happen to find a Smothering Tithe (which is up to ~$30??) and a Guardian Project (~$8). I knew Smothering Tithe had been climbing, didn't realize that it was the most valuable card in the set.

oh it's absolutely a joke deck
pretty good joke, though
The historic version could be a bit scarier though, turn 2 Ulamog, exile both of the opponents lands, start swinging for 10/milling for 20 on turn 3

Yeah, I think Tithe got basically no attention during Standard but EDH players love it.
This is probably my least favorite time in Magic. After the full spoiler waiting for the new set.
Dear Wizards,
I have monies I want to give you, but you don't want to take. I want to give these monies to you, get stomped to the curb, and then dejectedly await for the next set for me to not learn the same lessons.

Still better than the era when there was a two-week window between a set's release and its legality in Standard...

So much God tribal support, I'm so happy
To be fair, that card's kind of of anti-synergistic with the non-Kaldheim gods since they generally have inherent protection.
Only kind of, it still pumps them.

Yeah but Vraska, Ral, and Kaya arriving on Ravnica and taking out the guild leaders/becoming then is a major aspect of the war of the spark story.
It being postwar is fine and we still don’t know exactly what was up on Zendikar last set.
Fair.

I didn't click through the article when I saw this last night and I really should have, because now I know that Jed MacKay is writing it
for any non-comics folks in the chat, Jed MacKay fuckin rules.

Specifically, they recommend trying jank decks and playing games out and battlecruisery as part of the streamer event
If you could get something by ulting Ugin it'd be better but yeah the deck literally can only whiff with ults, too.

Heads up for anyone playing Eternal formats on MTGO, Vengevine is bugged as of the latest update and triggering off non-creature spells.
