Do student reviews of professors actually accomplish anything?
according to every semester when they hand them out, they're very important

The symbolism
All my trash talking aside, the live instrumentation person inside of me is glad to see some people actually taking a bit of an interest in rock, and that the idea that rock had transformed entirely into party anthems and Maroon 5 songs was not entirely true.

once they have tenure they are a little more protected
but like me, i could easily just not get hired if student reviews were bad

Yes I listen to AI rec lists and that keeps me from listening to the same stuff from a decade ago but it absolutely does nothing to tell me what's actually popular now, so I am doing a periodic temp check of non-personalized hot lists to make sure I at least know what's up.
I've been slowly working my way through the chat top 100 list that eddy put together and it's really nice for listening to stuff outside my own genre tastes
I've even saved a few songs to listen to again!
Show songs!!

They're extremely dubious data, but administrators who are hungry for data-based decisionmaking while simultaneously having extremely poor understanding of data quality absolutely care about them.
I mean, at R1 schools they don't matter because teaching doesn't matter, but at teaching programs they're 100% gonna get discussed in the retention-promotion-tenure process.

I was halfway down the list and ready to disown u forever but I made it on and so now you will be best man at my wedding
I tried listening to the chat playlist but I should have put it on shuffle
listening to 100 songs in a row by multiple people with very well-defined tastes which differ significantly from mine was not very fun ;_;
Maybe I'll try again on shuffle!

Yeah, I would only go off shuffle when I hit a song I loved, because I figured odds were decent that the surrounding songs would also be to my taste. But then back to shuffle.
I would never make it through a block of, like, 100 metal songs in a row (this is not shade against metal, it's just something I noticed other chatters are into which is not my cup of tea)

I think it was the Hamilton tracks that broke me and made me start skipping around more. I hadnt heard all of them before but I also wasnt ready to hear all of them at once
I would not only happily live in that house, I would happily throw a problematic native american themed birthday party for my spoiled son and get murdered by my chauffeur in that house
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
also two youngsters on league of legends were having a convo about music and suggested I listen to 100 gecs and I guess this is what kids listen to these days?
it'll be cool and weird when my own kids are old enough to discover music on their own
right now they have the playlists I seeded for them, which they've added to when they hear stuff they like on the radio or when they want me to remove stuff I thought they'd enjoy but don't
that is absolutely terrible, but it sounds terrible in a lot of ways like 70s-80s punk that a lot of people Iove
Some days Blue wonders why anyone ever bothered making numbers so small; other days she supposes even infinity needs to start somewhere.

Just straight ripping off Blink-182, check.
Yup, time for an edgelord late 90's revival, just in time for the nu-metal revival currently ongoing.
Oh no, do I love Machine Gun Kelly?

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
the reviews they get are just as important as the grades they give out...

What a very pretty school annex. I don't want to live there.

Maybe that’s my disconnect
this is the house equivalent of like, every single school built here in the last ten years

Pretty big for that style. And for that price!
My friends have a very similar house and it is, indeed, super nice to be in
