I don't really care about RealSports™ enough to feel the need for yearly updating rosters. Heck, do I actually even need real licensed teams and players? From any era? I'm perfectly content to draft rookie quarterback Bunze Mundlestein for the Seattle Fishmongers.
What's the "perfect golf game" that Gabe is talking about?
Personal preference / opinion: I enjoy golf video games, but honestly the less realistic they are the more fun they are. I like games like Mario Golf, and I'm eagerly anticipating the new one for Switch. I also like the Everybody's Golf game for PS4 that came out a few years ago.

PGA Tour 2K21. Mike and Jerry have been streaming matches with Gary Whitta and a Will Smith.

I remember when EA first got exclusive rights to the NFL's rosters, tanking 2k's series with anti-competitive BS.
One dreads to think how EA are going to monetise their golf game. Do you purchase loot boxes containing various multicoloured golf clubs or golf pros from around the world with varying stats and rarity?

I mean, golf itself is already staggeringly monetized, just roll with that.
Bags with slots by rarity. Clubs with stats, rarity, and special effects. Balls with varying flight characteristics. Fuzzy club covers (just cosmetic but you just know the rainbow ones are going to keep eating the guaranteed 5* slot in the expensive box). Golf carts to shorten or bypass an annoying 3 minute wait screen they added between holes (remember the EA way - create a problem, sell a solution). Just think of the product placement deals - brands could pay more to get their clubs ranked higher.

I thought this was going to be a Mario Golf joke as well.

I am cackling at this loss.
