PAX West 2021 - BYOC?

Any official word yet? Given the health and safety policy, I don't see how BYOC could be possible.

BYOC is still mentioned in the "PC Area" portion of the website (https://west.paxsite.com/en-us/features/pc-area.html) but no other word yet.

Maybe for BYOC require vaccination cards ;) Seems much more manageable with 300-500 people vs 40k.

I don't see why socially distancing the BYOC area couldn't be possible, although that means more limited badges potentially.

Possible? Yes. However, 6 feet of separation would mean each person would need 3-4 seats worth of space.

And separation is much more important for long periods of exposure. 6' might not be needed for a brief passing, but sitting for hours it probably is.

I would imagine that it depends a lot on the ventilation.

Oh for sure. I think it's really the same thing. To make up an analogy with no actual numbers. Walking by inside is like standing nearby outside (both of which are low risk). Outside there is more natural airflow and nothing to keep people's breath trapped near you.

Spacing, ventilation and potentially plexiglass dividers like they've been putting up in restaurants.

I've never done BYOC because it was always too much of a hassle to travel with my computer. But now that I live in downtown Seattle, I might actually go for it if it happens and there are badges available.

I've been doing BYOC at PAX West since 2009. It's a lot of fun, especially if you have a group to play with.

23 BYOC seats booked for our group so far. Can't wait to be back.

Can't wait! This is going to be my first in-person organized LAN since PAX East in 2020.
