Humans look at lots of very small lights. Sometimes the colours and patterns of the lights make them happy. Sometimes they make them sad

There was a really cool plot thread in the final Expanse book about eating the good rocks
an extradimensional alien entity was trying to kill humanity, but due to the massive conceptual barriers between us and them, was having difficulty pulling it off. Then some humans realized it was doing experiments, fucking around with all sorts of values of existence - stuff like changing the speed of light and gravity, trying to find the off switch for people. It eventually succeeds in one system, wiping out a whole colony... by changing the electrical conductivity of salt. Everyone in that system just drops dead instantly.

    Oh brilliant

    Physical discomfort anyway.
Social discomfort seems a different story.

Honestly physical discomfort is easy enough to handle for me, but social discomfort can lock me up entirely. So I get that.

The only way to salvage this mary worth story is for this part of it to be in Wilbur's head as he is thinking this is how his return home will go, and when he shows up unannounced his family and friends fuckin rip into him.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Uh huh, they’ve consistently been referred to with neutral pronouns so far and are also built pretty androgynously. On the topic of nerve conditions; I don’t think so. That part of the thigh isn’t particularly sensitive by default - I managed to get a stick-pin all the way into my leg by accident once and effectively didn’t notice. The pain nerves around there are relatively widely distributed. The temperature thing is just ordinary stubbornness combined with an effective distraction in the form of their pretty blatant crush on Sam.

I've never gotten to the point of passing out, but I am known to continue wearing my heavy coat long after everyone else I know has moved to short sleeves. Sometimes you just want as much as possible between you and a terrifying, uncaring world.

The concept of the Trinity sounds simple enough to me, especially when it involves divinity. I mean it's no 50 Incarnations of Vishnu like Hinduism has going on

why ought god be bound by our mortal understanding of logic and reason. why ought he be bound by the laws of the universe. the inventor of Monopoly is not obligated to exist in terms that make sense to the thimble and likewise i don't see why god would be obligated to exist in terms that make sense to us

god can be three guys and also one guy at the same time. god can make a boulder too heavy for him to lift, and also, he can lift that boulder.

Probably my favorite theory about the nature of the Trinity is that trying to figure it out is blasphemous because if the Lord wanted us to understand it he'd have made it less complicated of a concept

Honestly, any decent editor would have cut the Holy Spirit. Vague, completely extraneous to the plot, symbolic birds can just happen sometimes without trying to force a movie poster three-hander that the script doesn't support.

If nobody is happy then that means you've reached an acceptable compromise.

This is the nature of compromises.

Especially when people are excommunicating each other.
