Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

So a question about the books - did they ever write a book set in the robot uprising that led the Empire to ban all computers? I think that would be rad but I only ever read the first Dune

There was a set of books on the Butlerian Jihad. It was not well received.

Those were written by his son, Brian. Don't read Brian's books, they aren't very good
The one Brian I know is a pretty decent guy and made a point to sit and talk with me and catch up last time we met, even though he's my parents friend and not someone I'm super close too.

That's too bad. Pan-galactic robot uprising should be a slam dunk to make a cool book
It's funny that people are saying Sardaukar are Uruk Hai when they're pretty much a set of bolt guns and power claws away from being Space Marines for me.

Pretty sure the OG space marines being from prison planets was lifted from the Sardaukar, 40k, especially old school 40k, being the creators just making references to all their favorite SciFi things.

I mean, the Imperium of Man is one big riff/rip on Dune's Imperium, so yah, that's kinda the point.

I'm a Dune Encyclopedia liker so don't even get me started on this "Butlerian Jihad was a robot uprising" shit.
it was a philosophical conflict waged by reactionary religious extremists out of the fear that technology was making humanity too soft but that just wasn't sexy enough for brian and kja
I've tried reading Dune more than once in my life and never made it more than a few dozen pages. Just watched the new movie and I think I'm ready to give it another try!
It's been at least a decade since I last read the first two books, never gotten further in the series than that though
Books 1 and 4 are great. 2 and 3 have some moments but, mostly exist to get you to 4.
5 and 6 may as well not exist.
Imo, of course. This is all subjective as heck.

I wish that in one of the vid docs, they mentioned why you cant shoot shields with Las guns. I know why but going only from movie it was seemed weird why they didnt use lasers all the time

Why is this? I wondered why and I am not a dune guy.

Some kind of quantum harmonic effect between the shield and the laser causes one or both to explode in a small nuclear blast

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better
