Until about 4 years ago, my optometrist said my eyes were technically grey, and now they're much closer to green than grey, but it's still somewhat transitional.

When I was a kid I was out renting movies with my friend and his mom. They had one of those deals were like, five movies for five days for five bucks as long as they weren't new releases.

So we gathered up five movies and she said she wasn't paying for five movies and I tried to explain it was cheaper and we got them for longer and she didn't believe me. I tried to explain again. It was only five dollars, it was cheaper than two new releases.

She stared at me and demanded to know what color my eyes were. I said they were brown.

"I should have guessed, you're so full of shit."

    And she walked out.

I was like thirteen at the time.

I am in the business of saving lives.

My eyes appear blue, but that's just a combination of a small amount of brown pigment behind a colorless stroma. They look blue for the same reason the sky looks blue, the result of light scattering and being preferentially absorbed through a transparent refracting medium. There is no blue pigment in my eyes, or in anyone's.

I've always said hazel, but they're very much in that color changing realm of hazel - some days they're green with gold flecks, others they're a sort of grey-ish blue. Rarely ever brown.

This article implies that anime has lied to me about the variety of pigment colors human irises can produce and I won't stand for it
