    Yeah you are right.

actually i looked into this because it's been so long, and also I was such a coward when I fenced that I never did Sabre because fucking, ow man, what, no way, no thanks
the hand is specifically not a target, it's only at the wrist. You also will get carded in fencing for bringing your hand up like he is. I would have to ask on the set, but I think this is extremely on purpose. I watched the scene again, and you can see that he's doing this because he doesn't respect her. Kate is in a proper fencing form, as far as an idiot like me can tell. She's holding her hand back and she is focused on Doing It. On the other hand, the step dad doesn't give a shit, he thinks/knows he is better than her, he is showing off. she hits him in the chest where his hand is, and he pulls back and lets her hit him there. That's right when she says "stop letting me win".

The flagrant rule/form break is how she knows he is fucking around, and it's why she's getting pissed off. He's not even giving her the respect of doing it right.

Tof is correct in that if your hand comes up by your waist but is not covering, it can still be hit and the blade can scoot up the hand to a proper touch and still count. Play doesn't halt if the hand is hit, it just doesn't count, which is why any serious fencer holds their arm way back when they engage.

Yeah this was my take on the scene too if I was right about the rules.

Anyone that's enjoying Bob on WILTY should subscribe to the Athletico Mince podcast. It was supposed to be about football but it's basically just a place for Bob to throw stories and ideas at the wall and see what works. If you've seen his "train guy" videos they span out of a character "Barry Homeowner" that he did based on a name that Andy came up with on the show. His South African stories are a highlight:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtDLMaOTWH0

I have no idea about football but I still enjoy the gangs of the EPL segments:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7X6xnB-4mk

Thanks! I will check that out. I love Bob.

"How much did they have to pay Tom Cruise to make this knowing that course correcting on the character's height/size is going to repeatedly bring his up?"

That the tradeoff for seeing Zahn at work, at seeing Echo on screen for the first time, is having to watch Jeremy Renner carry a series?

Bob Mortimer on WILTY has taught me so much about successful lying, ie to make a lie seem believable, make every truth you tell sound insane.

    Also give people stupid names.

I have literally seen some of his anecdotes 10-20 times and sometimes I can't remember if it's true or a lie. I legitimately cannot recall if his "sick owl" story is true or not at this moment and I've definitely seen that ~10 times.

If it helps, I do not like Renner at all, and he’s been shockingly tolerable in this. Excellent even, in a lot of scenes. Trust me, I’m shocked.

Of course, a lot of it may be thanks to a truly fantastic supporting cast.

It also helps that they are having Hawkeye behave consistently and with people who have excellent chemistry with him. He's also been humanized a bit what with his family and his disability.

Holy shit people weren't kidding about that Arcane show being absolutely gorgeous. Like, almost certainly the best looking 3d animated show I've ever seen. The character designs and animations are incredible. The cast did amazing work as well.

Also, the story was...actually good? And kind of...bold? If thats the right word. After I was a few episodes in and I grocked what was happening, my jaw barely left the floor till it was over.

I hope it was as successful as it seems like it was and they can make more, because hot damn.

Currently on the episode where Picard gets de-aged which is a silly fun episode that firmly establishes O'Brian is not into 12 year old girls.

Also, "he's my number one dad" is a great joke.

There's something about the way Cena's character will use very stupid metaphors, but is at least one or two steps ahead of the low hanging fruit joke about it, which i find very endearing.
