Launch went well and the first orbital correction went so well they believe the craft has surplus fuel.
Deployment is proceeding well so far. As of 01:04 EST 1/2/2022, the sunshield covers have been retracted, the sunshield booms have been extended, and the next step is tensioning of the sunshield.

Sunshield tensioning moved to January 3rd since things have gone well so far, the engineers want a chance to make sure they fully understand what's going on with the spacecraft before continuing deployment.
I watched a video about the engineering behind this thing. Those mirrors are all fully adjustable. They can tilt any direction and they can even flex to individually adjust focus which is just wild to me.

THE JAMES WEBB TELESCOPE HAS NO RIGHT TO JUDGE ME NO MATTER HOW CLOSELY IT CAN ZOOM IN AND FOCUS ON MY SO CALLED "PERVERSIONS"
It in fact will function like a small solar sail. Part of position correction will be to counteract the very slow, gentle push the observatory will constantly be getting.
As expected, the Webb original deployments timeline has changed over time. Sunshield tensioning was completed today, on the 10th day after launch. The secondary mirror deployment is now planned for tomorrow morning.
Live coverage of the deployment, from the Webb Mission Operations Center at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, will stream on nasa.gov/live starting at approximately 9:45 a.m. EST (subject to change based on Webb’s operations).
Watch live coverage starting at ~10:20am ET (15:20 UTC) from @NASAWebb mission control as teams deploy its tripod-like secondary mirror structure. The mirror will help reflect light to #UnfoldTheUniverse: https://youtu.be/-EnlaXnFcGs

the fumes and odors/stains become too intense when committing those acts indoors
That’s what the kids call “redshifting”
When he says, "Does a bear fuck in the woods?," The reason he knows the answer isn't because he watches a lot of animal planet.
This is probably the most fraught part of the whole process so everyone do whatever thing you do for good luck.
Don’t worry, been farting all day already

Layer 1 tensioned! Layer 2 begins.
There's video of them removing the lens cap actually! It had a giant sign that said REMOVE BEFORE LAUNCH in huge font taped to it.
Tensioning of layers 2 and 3 complete! 4 and 5 scheduled for tomorrow.

Layer 4 tensioning complete!
Tensioning is DONE. While there are still 70 some odd single-point-of-failure tasks to go, we are through the trickiest part.
