I certainly would not advise any old Switch-lover to jump to a Steam deck or other handheld PC at this time, unless you already like or are interested in PCs. I do think Nintendo is going to offer some real hardware upgrades sometime next year, and they will come up with something more convenient and efficient for gaming than handheld PCs. The point is that they are doing so in part because yeah, some are in fact getting tired of the old hardware.

Like the first boss I saw clicking through the video is a cyber Shiva with laser eyes. Another looked kind of like a chained up cyberXerxes in the background. The name Osman itself is the Persian/Turkish adaptation of uthman one of the Islamic caliphs, and they got him running around somewhere between Aladdin and Prince of Persia.

It's not that I think it's malicious or anything. But they certainly just took some caricatures from the middle east/India cranked it to 11, and said "but what if mecha?!"

Would it not have been racist if the first boss had been Jesus instead?

Wait, Cyber Shiva? I watched the whole thing and didn't see anything like that, or anything similar to any real religion. Though there is certainly a little bit of middle eastern aesthetic in there it doesn't feel particularly racist to me.

Everything about that game screams classic Japanese design of just taking an encyclopedia and pulling out every noun that seems cool and smashing them together.

    -Arabian martial artist? Check.
    -Robots? Check.
    -Submarine pirates? Check.
    -Giant flesh scorpion? Check.
    -Al Capone? Check.

vaguely middle eastern martial artist fighting robots and psychedelic cyber gods in cyberpunk cityscapes does sound pretty rad

He doesn't really look like anything but a standard anime cool guy in his visual design though

I won't buy the Wind Waker ports, I don't think. I may end up buying and not playing the Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime remakes. Unless the Metroid Prime remake is the whole Trilogy, in which case I'll end up playing 3 again.

Also, fingers crossed for that Xenoblade Chronicles X port that's definitely going to happen this time for really real.

I've been wondering if the flowers all over their uniforms are some kind of Japanese symbolism I'm missing or if they're just there to look fancy.

A Direct focused primarily on Zelda is potentially the most boring show for me. I know Zelda is one of Nintendo's most popular franchises, but it's never been my favorite.

I'll forgive it all though if we get any mention of Metroid or a new Mario game. :D

I got all of them on Wii U, after owning and finishing them all first time round.

I have a habit with Zelda, where I get reasonably close to the end and then get distracted and stop, then forget about then for a while. I did that with both those HD games, never went back.

I put at least 60 hours into XCX, so while I didn't finish it, I definitely got my money's worth.

Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U though, there's a scan in the prologue that is easy to miss. I kept reloading and trying again, failing, and stopped. I did not get my money's worth there, at least it was cheap!

Can I ask for a favor? Please don't spoil new pokemon outside the pokemon thread. Those of us who want to go into the new games as blind as possible can avoid the Pokemon thread itself, but if they start showing up elsewhere... I mean this non-sarcastically. At least put some spoiler tags and a warning. Thanks!

I still wanna see them integrate Mario Maker 3 with like a phone app or something so you can use that to design levels while also having it on the big screen for playtesting (rather than "you can only use touch if you play switch handheld")

The fact the made that "Nintendo Online App" not long before SMM2 came out, and NEVER implemented SMM2 into it was an absolute crime of the highest order. No other game honestly would have benefited from implementation of that more. Basically would be the direct evolution of the bookmark site from SMM1.

Instead players had to find ways into the Nintendo DBs to get info of / search for levels properly.

I agree with having the ability to "sketchbook" levels would have been nice for like an app or something. Shocked no players ever came up with something like that.

I think a new mainline Mario along with SMM3 would pretty much make me required to get their new console. Otherwise I have felt pretty comfortable being off the Nintendo train lately.

I'm also pretty sure Gust has just straight up lost all the code for their PS2 games.

Nintendo, are you ok? You actually turned off the super gross gacha system in this game? (I should add, their highest revenue mobile game, likely because the gacha is super egregious)

Edit: It looks like you'll now buy racers straight up rather than rolling to randomly get them. This is way better IMO - just get rid of the gambling shit.

I'm guessing Mario Kart is doing into maintenance mode before it eventually shuts down. Nintendo is shutting down Dragalia Lost in November. Aside from Fire Emblem being a cash cow, I don't know that Nintendo wants to be in this market anymore.

MK Tour is the other cash cow, and the MK8 battle pass represents dual development of tracks with Tour, letting them monetize similar content twice. Nintendo is not spinning up new mobile games with the same gusto, but they aren't going to just drop things that are still plenty viable.

Yeah, Fire Emblem and Mario Kart are the two making the money right now, to a lesser degree Pocket Camp. Dragalia is shutting down because it was way at the bottom of the list, as was the case with Dr. Mario, etc. (It's a shame, Dragalia was really great and actually a pretty generous gacha usually)

It's not gonna happen but you know, if they wanna do something similar with Fire Emblem Heroes I would not say no.... :P From what I saw tho, Mario Kart was super pay-to-win which is why I never bothered with it (like, it was impossible to get good scores on certain tracks without x combo of racer/car/wheels). Fire Emblem currently has this issue with the arena, which is why I stopped bothering to try very hard at it (that game has the worst power creep I swear)
