An awesome looking comic that I never been able to find. It apparently started coming out back when I was still learning to ride a bicycle and then kind of fizzled away.
After a million years, issue 21 is finally coming out some time this summer hopefully. An omnibus or whatever, with all 21 issues, is planned, along with an action figure.
Watching Rob's Vlogs is pretty cool.
So does anyone have the old Scud issues? Just how awesome are they? etc
i've found one trade of this. it's excellent. scud has to have a temporary replacement arm until a proper one can be acquired, so they just graft a human arm to his body, but then it turns out the arm was from a werewolf, which takes over scud's brain and makes him speak in shakespearean english for the rest of the night
This is one of the books that I miss the most from my old collection which I sold off before moving in with my ex-girlfriend almost a decade ago. Stupid stupid stupid, I had every issue of Milk & Cheese, and Preacher up until that point too, stupid stupid stupid.
How did I miss this? SCUD!!!! I have all the original releases and a couple alternate cover art copies, plus the Drywall one shot and Scud: Tales from the Vending Machine. Didn't get into the Nostroid stuff. He's a cool guy, I met him once after seeing the Dead Ailwives. This is so cool. I need to go change my pants.
Oh man, I loved SCUD, even though I don't have all the issues. I didn't feel like paying 8-12 bucks at the last con I was at. An omnibus sounds incredibly awesome.
I especially loved how they gave suggested voice talent and soundtracks for the issues. It sounds kinda cheesy but it really helped me get into it.
Damn! I've heard about SCUD for a long time and I decided that they would be some of the first things that I would blow any extra cash on ebay for. Then I checked out his blurb on his extended hiatus only to get bombarded with spoilers. Fuck!

I love SCUD and La Cosa Nostroid, they are both made of awesome. I even played the game on the Saturn, and even though it sucked so incredibly bad, I had a smile on when I played it. The Vending Machine books are awesome, especially when someone buys a SCUD and tells it to kill itself. Oh man, such pain in my sides never existed.

I was looking up information on this not long ago. I have most of the books except for a couple of the later ones. I'll have to pick up the end of the story I guess. I was quite fond of the werewolf arm that made him talk all Shakespearian when there was a full moon. Hippy haiku brother trucker.

Yeah, I only knew about the game YEARS ago and I so badly wanted to play it. Man...
Does anyone know if it was any good 'cuz maybe I'll just eBay the gods-damned thing. I actually do remember it having some pretty shitty ratings, but re-GARD-less...
So according to wiki... issue 21 is coming out, and then he will release an omnibus with issues 1-21. And then there will be issues 22-24 to finish off the story? Wierd and annoying...
I was under the impression that issue 21 was the final issue. Don't believe everything you read on a wiki, especially if it is unsourced.
Schrab recently, announced that the Scud finale will be four times the original length. The Book was to be a 32 page conclusion, instead the ending chapter will be over 111 pages long making it Schrab's biggest comic project to date.
Rob Schrab told fans that "he just couldn't make this another issue. I want Scud to go out with a bang."
Because of this and with Schrab producing, directing and writing the Sarah Silverman Program for Comedy Central, the Complete Scud Book will not be out by the 2007 ComicCon but will be for Comic Con 2008
Four Issue Series Finale
The final installment of Scud will be released as a four-part mini series to be published by Image Comics, with covers done by guest artists.
1. 21 - Ashley Wood (February 2008) "Return of the Over-Used Muse"
2. 22 – Jim Mahfood (March 2008) “Challenge of the Over-Used Muse”
3. 23 – David Hartman (April 2008) “Retaliation of the Over-Used Muse”
4. 24 – Doug Tennapel (May 2008) “Death of the Over-Used Muse”
The Oversized One-Volume edition of Scud will then be released in June 2008. [citation needed]
Yeah, there has been some stealth editing since my post to change comments about the omnibus being #1-21 to #1-24. Presumably the older stuff was in there from before they announced it had to be split into four issues.
That makes more sense, it would have been incredibly wierd if they had released extra issues after an omnibus.
Thought I would share my "free" issue of Scud. I read about it in Wizard and sent Rob Schrab a letter asking for a free copy. The book was $4.50 and told them it might suck and then I would be out my allowance for the week... This is what arrived!
Also ALSO...Rob Schrab is...I think...a producer on the "Sarah Silverman Program." So my question earlier (months ago, I think) is answered. It HAS to be good. Cool.
Benjamin Franklin as a...Holy shit.

That dosen't even begin to cover the weirdness of Scud.
Yeah, I guess the last issue is getting turned into a big four-part thing? I kind of forgot about this until now. A lot of crazy stuff this past year. I was browsing CBR and saw this:
SCUD THE DISPOSABLE ASSASSIN: THE WHOLE SHEBANG! TP
story ROB SCHRAB, DAN HARMON & MONDY CARTER
art & cover ROB SCHRAB
"BEGINNING, MIDDLE AND ENDî
Scud is programmed to destroy a basement monster but he will self destruct if he does, so the robotic assassin puts the wounded creature on life support and becomes a freelance assassin to pay for the hospital bills.
Collects SCUD # 1-24, plus the super-sweet one-shot DRYWALL: UNZIPPED
JUNE 25 764 PAGES BW $19.99
Whoa. Is that an error? 764 pages for 20 bucks?

It's 4 parts and at least part 1 has been out for a while.

It is the most fucked up thing I have ever read.
When the omnibus comes out it is so bought. Maybe pre-ordered.
Always wondered why such a good series had no end. Scud's popularity was about to blow up around that time, but then nothing happened.
It was perfect for a movie...Rob put in soundtrack suggestions for every comic, too.
I especially loved how they gave suggested voice talent and soundtracks for the issues. It sounds kinda cheesy but it really helped me get into it.

Hopefully coming in February!
Of what year?
One would assume 2008, but given the age of this thread (and what it references), it feels like a fair question.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
That makes more sense, it would have been incredibly wierd if they had released extra issues after an omnibus.
WEBCOMICS: UPDATED EVERY FRIDAY!!!
It was like the internet. Except, their letters page.
Hehe thanks! 14 years late but its the thought that counts right?
I gota say Scud has to be one of my favorite all time comics. Benjamin Franklin as a zombie witch doctor... O_o
Benjamin Franklin as a...Holy shit.

And an action figure would be great, I made several attempts as a kid to make my own.

I'm waiting for the omnibus.
I'm buying it regardless.
