I... I can't tell if this is just a joke or if it's actually what's happening?
Well, it's true that EA is casting around for a buyer. The booster packs are less likely. But not completely ruled out.
I mean, right now, EA has maximum value. And video game developers and companies are going for way over what they should be priced at so it's a bit of a sellers market.
I'm genuinely regretful that Embracer had the Square-Enix (is it just Square now?) deal, otherwise I can 100% imagine they would've picked up IP's like blueberries.
They would do very well with whatever's left of the old Westwood studios and IP's.

Square sold Embracer all their western developers and IP library for a song (Embracer paid about half as much for Cryptic, and that was two and a half MMOs, the western servers of a Chinese made MMO, and a stake in the Torchlight developer).
Its unclear if they just don't get the market, if they're doubling down on blaming those developers for problems Square created, or if they're actually telling the truth and are absolutely going to chase the NFT rabbit straight into the ocean. But whatever the real reason they sold cheap and are clearly intent on retreating back into their core Japanese developers and properties.

Fair, they should have plenty of money left for a potential piecemeal purchase of EA assets.
Second panel caught me off guard and elicited a sort of scoffing laugh.
I love the idea of a company giving away stock in packs of bubblegum cards. It fits so many things so well.

"And lo, let the rarest and most expensive of these cards confer privileges in the online game!"
"HAIL SATAN!!!" :-)

Of course, there's also the Interplay way of selling off your company.
