oh also did anybody read the other series KA did? Otherworld, Otherland?
teens chase a witch step-sister into a world created by humanity's various Gods once we had tired of them. the Gods retreated to this new world with smaller, more manageable populations that they could squeeze more belief from.
the teens inhabit this world while they're sleeping, and the regular world while they're awake
anyway, some Alien Bug God did the same thing, made its own little world, but then it moved on to a new world and discovered that eating Gods rules, so this Bug God is just rolling over these semi-mythical Battleworlds.
it had lots of TEEN DRAMA and I think at one point the witch step-sister arms a bunch of neo-nazis and then brings them to the other world to conquer it with their modern technology.
edit: also at one point they take a weird bubble thing from Atlantis to the surface and one of the teens freaks out about getting the bends, but it turns out since the Gods had no knowledge/concept of it, it simply didn't transfer over when they made their new world.
edit 2: also they meet Kassandra and she prophecies at them and despite recognizing her and knowing her whole deal, they just can't make themselves believe her.

It's Everworld, and yeah, I read some of it. It was weird! There's an extended section where they watch Rent!

Ax
there was also the "teens lost in space" series
man, why did the lame YA series' get turned into movies.
I don't think fossils are actually bones anymore, and I don't know if bones count for acquiring a morph, but I'd try really really hard to touch a fossil of one of those crazy ass giant prehistoric wolves
if that doesn't work, I'd go for a tiger I think.
My combat morph? One of the more muscular hominids. Off the top of my head, I'd say gorilla or orangutan.
I need to stay ape! It's the limb configuration I understand the best! Not to mention the animal instincts I'm most familiar with!
I'd go with a bear, except then nobody else on the team is a bear, so I wouldn't be able to hang out with a bear

Bison for pure "fuck you I'm a bison suck it I'm a bisoooooon" energy as I plow through pretty much any other biological obstacle that isn't also a metaphorical tank
One of the things I did not like was the big reveal in, I think the Megamorphs, that Elfangor was Tobias’s father. Even in a setting with a literal Deus that exists to Ex Machina things, it strikes me as Dumb Plot Bullshit to get a surprise reveal that hews too close to a Chosen One situation.

It's in the big Elfangor backstory book, the Andalite Chronicles. I think what keeps it from being a chose one situation is that...it's just a thing that's happened, really. It gives him a connection to Ax, which is nice, but like everything else in Tobias's life, it mostly just causes him more problems without giving him any real advantages.

It only ever shows up as part of the story once, when Tobias finds out, and amounts to "Tobias hides from Visser Three that he knows about aliens because he has been a bird so long he forgot how to make facial expressions without directly intending to."

That was in The Andalite Chronicles.
I remember that book incredibly fondly because it was the first novel i read in english.

?
drop in under cover, swap to moose maybe
I was assuming that in this hypothetical I'd be in my own Animorphs team, and everyone would have their own specific battle morphs, for coverage

They even had it in their user name. Shame we don't see them around anymore.
