Shutterfly, but mostly because of a huge discount through Costco. 51% off, plus free ground shipping.

one thing I've learned from using Snapfish for prints and holiday cards - never pay full price. There's ALWAYS a massive discount code, sometimes as much as 70% off, just look at the ads on the site. I imagine other print sites are similar.

i kinda got tricked by not realizing how much they cost, but it got me past the stickershock stage of treating myself to some soft cashmere sweaters to wear in my new job.

I'm looking to start wearing cologne again.

Can anyone recommend an affordable cologne brand? I would like something maybe woodsy or bourbon-y, I think

I used to wear "nautical" scents but I'm not really feeling them anymore

I tried the duke cannon solid cologne bars and the scents don't seem to last very long at all

Has anyone seen the Dr squatch stuff? I tried some of the deodorant and was pleasantly surprised at its quality for it's price point

I ordered a pixel 8a on Friday, it was delivered today, my pixel 6 is three years old almost to the day, and has been extremely finicky to charge for about six months now

My wife's Pixel 6 succumbed to the Android 15 brick update. Fortunately we were able to get a free replacement. My Pixel 6 is safe. I think I might be able to get another year out of mine. I can get through the day before I need to charge still, even playing some games throughout the day.

I had a 4a for a long time and loved it, till I dropped it and it landed right on the corner, fully ruining the thing.

I figured I may as well "upgrade" to a 6a but haven't been especially impressed. It does what I need though so as long as I don't drop it I'll be on it for as long as possible

I went from a 7 pro (which I managed to crack like 4 times, even with a case, because of that accursed curved screen) and then finally traded it in for an 8a, which has mostly been fine

in use the 8a is almost identical to the 7 pro except for

    1) the charging speed is way slower
    2) the fingerprint reader is terrible, although I am using a screen protector
    3) no real telephoto lens, which I only sometimes used on the 7 pro anyway

  • DouglasDangerDouglasDanger PennsylvaniaRegistered User regular
Setting it up now, it's a little shorter than the 6, which I appreciate

I had a Pixel 2 for a long time, and didn't want to upgrade because nothing these days has the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, which the Pixel 2 did and I love that feature.

But battery life eventually made me get a Pixel 7a. It's been fine.

I miss the fingerprint sensor on the back.

I think I started using the pixel phones with a 3 or 3a, I cannot remember

I previously had some Motorola droid phone was was nice too

    I've got a 7 pro myself

    It's still pretty nice.

It needs a case because of the stupid camera part on the back means it can't sit flat with it's screen up without sliding around and off of shit.

If you want to stretch a phone with w dodgy charging port, a wireless charger is like $10. Added a year to my Galaxy 7, although eventually the battery life got terrible.

In fact, still use it 90% of the time as I charge every other night currently, only use the USB if I need to charge quickly.

I think 6 is when they went to the front. I miss the back sensor too. I could unlock and turn on the screen while pulling it out of my pocket in one with motion.

Now I pull it out, wait for the screen to turn on, tap it when it doesn't, put my finger in the spot, try again, try again, ok now it's unlocked, all in one smooth motion.

My 4a's battery life is starting to hit the point of minutes rather than hours if I'm actively using it, besides certain very battery light apps like my questionably legal manga reader

I just figured the hell with it, the DARPA robo dogs with guns on their backs already have my face id, I might as well let Google have it too, and turned on face id unlock on my new phone

It's much more reliable than the damn fingerprint scanner

I upgraded from a 4 year old Galaxy to the s24 ultra mainly for the security updates. Now that this thing is promised 7 years of updates, i am going to do my best to make it last that long. I am even willing to buy one of those big bulky phone cases with an extra battery built in if this thing starts to die. Or pay to replace it depending on cost.

Bought a nice copper ring but when it arrived it was about half a size too small. It's my fault, it's been years since I measured my fingers and I've gained a little weight. Luckily the person I got it from on Etsy said they'd resize it for me for free! Just gotta send it back (which is the hardest thing for me to do for some reason lol)

My wedding bands have all been tungsten carbide which is basically impossible to resize so as my hands got bigger from doing manual labor i just had to buy new rings. On my 3rd one now. Still have the other 2.

Man I feel like my phone is some kind of incredible fluke, a galaxy s8 from like... 2017, still going strong, never damaged, battery is weaker than it was but still enough to easily last me a day, or two with light usage.

I thought that about the phone I got in 2017 until around this time last year, when I took the protective case off and saw that the battery had expanded to the point that the body was coming apart

Not to jinx your s8 or anything

We're moving next year and so I've been looking around at used/thifted/etc furniture places to try and replace our IKEA-grade stuff with real furniture without spending a ton. Most antique/vintage stuff that's actually for sale is way too expensive because people who know more than me about antiques want it. Like my wife and I love those old library card catalog cabinets with a bunch of little drawers, but apparently everybody likes those, because the ones I've been able to find for sale are like $10k+ on ebay. I think I must have missed the boat a couple decades ago when libraries were unloading them.

I started watching a few sites that aggregate estate sales by location - the prices at estate sales can get very low, partly because the sellers don't want to deal with the hassle of shipping, so the demand is limited to people willing to pick the stuff up. By sheer luck one of the smaller cabinets about an hour away was up for auction online, so I bid a couple times before someone outbid me with a few days left. I was expecting a tense ebay-style bidding war at the last minute, so I figured I'd bid a little bit more but stop when the pros drove the price up too much.

Well for whatever reason the ~40 people watching the auction didn't jump on it when it ended yesterday, so I was able to get it with a single swoop-in bid. Tomorrow I get to drive an hour and pick up this beauty for a cool $275.
