2023 Mask Requirement

GlorifundelGlorifundel Registered User new member
Hello,

I have gone to Pax East since it began ( I still have the shirt ). I begrudgingly accepted that we were forced to present vaccination cards and wear masks previously as those were requirements of the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts. As of the time of posting, these are no longer requirements by external / governing bodies. Why then does my Pax East letter indicate visitors are required to wear a mask, the implication being that a discussion was had by Penny Arcade, and a decision made to continue this requirement in the absence of external governing bodies.

Is the problem insurance? I.e. is the insurance taken out to cover potential problems against the event significantly more expensive without this language in place? I would like to advocate that the language of "requirement" be replaced by "suggestion".

I believe you'd have to take this up with Reed Expo via PAXquestions@reedexpo.com as it states in the Health & Safety Guidelines portion of the website under "what if I have additional questions?"

This is not something this community forum can answer for you.

    Thanks zerzhul,

I know there was talk of having the expo be run by another entity, Is the implication then that reed expo are now the owners/operators then of PAX East?

(just curious, I will take your suggestion and route the question through them, thank you for taking the time to reply.)

Reed has run the logistics of PAX for quite a long time. As of the most recent website changes, it seems a little more "unified" under their banner. I don't know the details of how decisions are made, but I know that it's been a while since decision makers have communicated via these forums.
