The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I'm a big fan of like smoked or candied salmon, smoked or hard cheeses, last Thanksgiving a guest actually made a deviled egg recipe that I liked so I'm officially an ancestor now.
Carrots and hummus is better than ranch veggie tray. Especially a spicy pepper hummus.

Nova from the distance in that photo that looks like every 1970s Bank of America building.
I mean, it's Yellowknife. The total population of the town is less than 22,000. And we have actual office towers downtown. In a place 120 miles from the arctic circle. That was still just a dirt road settlement in the 1980s.

Also, I'm not fussed. It doesn't look like anyone was around it. It's the most exciting thing to happen outside of my window in years.
Also, I take the mocking of Yellowknife in stride because it's a silly place that exists solely because of massive federal government spending.

Hahaha, Cabin Radio has a video up on their instagram that my friend linked to me after I commented about Cabin Radio's fast reporting (Volume warning for the music).
EDIT: Also, apparently one of the reporters (Only reporter?) for Cabin Radio, Ollie, reports from his phone. He takes the photo himself, types up the article and submits it, all on his phone, which is why they're up so fast.

Yeah I felt a bit bad about my joke so I alt-tabbed back into ME3.
Now I could really go for some like, toasted naan crisps, a goat cheese spread and some dry salami.

Still no concrete link between Ollie and Yellowknife's friendly neighborhood spider-man.

I'm fairly amazed Yellowknife exists, and fairly interested in what life there is different than other places all us live.
But mostly I'm never gonna ever mock where someone is at in a mean way. At least I hope I never do.
I don't think anyone ever has! I certainly didn't see Weaver as being mean at all.
I like it here, but that doesn't mean I think it's any less of weird place than you do. It's a much closer, stronger community than anywhere I've lived, and it's very progressive due to being very government funded (Though that is balanced somewhat by it's proximity to Alberta, so it's not really Leftist as Canadians would see it, but it's very much left of center).
But it's also isolating and the unrelenting cold can be exhausting.

You go in the cage, cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water, our shark.
ME3 update, I got distracted by an N7 mission and still haven't picked up Garrus yet.
Real question, I mentioned recently that I should replace my home kitchen knife set, I will of course do some research on it when I go to make that purchase, but any brand recs to start off with?

So, I have a Zwilling set I got years ago that have been solid, but they're not amazing. I bought a second chef's knife and got a Wusthof, which has been better.
I think, though I'm not sure, that both of those are, like, "Good but not the best" levels of kitchen knives. I have no desire to replace any of them, though.
EDIT: My opinion may be coloured by the fact that I'm not super good with knife maintenance and while I try not to abuse them, they would all probably be better if I took better care of them. I did get them all professionally sharpened last summer, which has been really nice, especially because I did damage the Zwilling chef's knife at one point to where it was basically unusable and now it's working fine again.

Wusthof is the IBM of kitchen knives. Never going wrong with a Wusthof classic set. They are pricey but you will never regret them.
I do have a good sharpening stone with coarse/fine sides and also steel. Just the last knife set I bought, the blades are fine but the handles are starting to fall apart.

If you have a nice knife set the good knives (steak knives maybe excluded) should cut and get cleaned and put back immediately. Do your cuts, wipe / clean them, put them away. It should just be part of your process.
Steak knives aside (which dishwasher? no it cracks handles) never even get into the sink or basket. Still don't put your steak knives in the dishwasher.

My steak knives are all solid metal, including the handles.
I have two really nice knives that I use for all of my cooking and prep
I caught one roommate about to use the chefs knife to cut a pizza on a pizza pan and the other put the nakiri in the dishwasher after she used it to cut up a banana for their daughter but at least it hadn't been run yet
There is now a very strict rule about who the only person is that gets to touch the fancy knives that are now purposefully hidden in the back corner of the countertop

But even if they weren't, it wouldn't stop me.
All my knives go in the dishwasher.
Come at me
I mean if you have like a $30 18 piece knife set from Walmart/Target/Bed Bath & Beyond or whatever that's fine, it's not like you lose much if something happens.
But I have two knives that totaled around $400 together
Yeah I've been lazy about knife maintenance, but now that I'm making it my trade, gotta focus in.
Also appreciate the multiple Wusthof recommendations.
Also I just realized I'm going to be getting asked so much more than normal to go visit partners parents and grill for them than previous years.
Knife care / sharpening isn't hard but it is a skill. Just throwing the expert knife guy some dollars to tune up your knife set is the recommended thing from all the chefs I've known. Might be the same for your trade.
The fun part of being an apprentice is it's literally someone's job to properly teach this.to you. Or they shrug and you get to figure it out.

I'm fine with famous people being assholes.
Was it racist/ sexist/ homophobic / transphobic?
Or just yelling at wait staff or something?
COVID related.
Won't wear a mask on set of new movie (set rules require folks to wear masks). In spite of having had COVID more than once, and reportedly dealing with long COVID.

We have a new forum meat wizard and I'm all in on Weaver being the new meat champ.

You will regret offering me an entire jar of olives

You'd think at least if they're gonna build in a cold northern place they could at least put some color on the buildings.
Next up: "Local journalist arrested for crimes to create headlines."
That there is MY window.
When we had our big everything made from scratch dinner, I had gotten martini ingredients, except, I forgot olives.
I had meant to get garlic stuffed olives. I was deeply ashamed.

Go buy your own jar and eat them. Chaos olives seem like a bad idea.
