The Prisoner! One of the best TV shows ever made, a genre-blending mix of spy thriller, science fiction, and avant-garde theater, in which a man with a mysterious past as a secret agent is kidnapped and trapped in a surreal coastal village full of friendly but robotic people, omnipresent surveillance, secrets, lies, and torture, where nobody has a name and everybody has a number. They want to know why Number 6 quit his job. Number 6 wants to escape.

They've got medical experiments, drugs, assassinations, brainwashing, false realities, human chess matches, colorful striped umbrellas, and a sentient balloon that roars and eats people. But he's clever and angry and over the course of the show's 17 episodes he slowly begins to turn the tables, culminating in an unforgettable final episode.

The whole thing is on Youtube! It's free!

Some of you may recall that roughly twelve hours ago, we were sitting in a car park waiting for roadside assistance

After several hours of faffing our car is being recovered the 500 miles home, we got a rental car, said rental car made it 150 miles and has now broken down as well

The fluid in that tank should not be that colour, nor for that matter should there be so much of it, and neither should it smell like fuel

"What’s the role?’” Jordan said. “They said, ‘No no, not a role. We’ve finished recording all that stuff, I’m afraid. No, what we need is sexy sounds. Do you wanna come in and do the sexy sounds?’”

Jordan asked that players keep him in their minds while they galavant in BG3 and attempt to rizz up its many romanceable characters.

“You think about that,” Jordan said. “You mull that over as you run around, you little horny perverts, with your little perverted roleplays, you randy bastards. You think of me.”

the one sex scene I have seen in bg3 was hilariously overlong, with multiple position changes

I had to run it like 4 times because there's a dice roll right after it that I kept failing

ha ha I hope my family doesn't walk by, I thought to myself as I crouched like a gremlin

so I was stoked that I immediately knew that the ruined temple was one to Jergal before you run across his statue, simply by environmental cues. One, I’m that big of a nerd and thought about playing a doom scribe in an AD&D game way back and two my warlock is as big of a nerd as I am because she was the only one who picked up on it and then appropriately geeked out over the Book of Dead Gods

    huh this is odd

I was just thinking last week I should watch the prisoner because it seems like my sort of thing thematically and aesthetically (and it was brought to my attention by an episode of 99PI podcast talking about the weird, set-like irl location it was filmed at)

I think I will watch it; thanks for the links @Jacobkosh

I'm reading this article on south east asian factories struggling to find workers and having to raise wages, offer amenities, and improve conditions, ultimately making it unprofitable to sell goods as cheaply as most companies are currently. Theres some panic because there aren't really viable places to readily exploit. Experiments with factories in Africa haven't gone great. Nowhere else seems to have a huge labor force and great infrastructure.

I'm just over here thinking oh thank god it finally happened. Overly cheap manufacturing labor has been a humanitarian crisis, an environmental crisis, and an overall annoyance for like 40 years now.

oh no we might have to make things out of better material and make them more repairable because labor costs are too high to maintain the current insane rate of replacement on clothing, electronics, automobiles and more.

oh no customers will be forced to value quality more highly and financially incentivized to stop putting things into landfills the horror
