    New episode on February:
    https://www.playstartrekonline.com/en/news/article/11573541
So, they are retconning how Picard killed Hugh for shock value/that never happened on STO's timeline?. Good. Also, we are finally going to find out what's the Aetherians deal, there was a short story that went up recently saying how Kuumarke is not trusting them at face value and has people spying on them.

And they announced the new Alliance ship for the Anniversary event, the Garret Command Alliance Dreadnought Cruiser.

Meanwhile, the bugs are ongoing, don't touch your Space/Ground Duty Officers. Though they did said that they would give Event Campaign progress retroactively, so just going to keep doing the daily I guess.

    PC.

    General:
Claiming the Voyager Giveaway of the Long Range Science Vessel [T6] will now appropriately discount the Fleet version, as if you'd purchased the original starship.

    Known issues:
Currently, participating in the No Win Scenario event does not grant progress towards Event Campaign 7. We are looking into this issue and expect anyone currently participating will have the appropriate progress granted once we have a fix.
We are aware of problems with some Space Duty Officers and equipment after the last maintenance and we're looking into it.

    Dev comment:

This is correct. We understand how to reward the missing progress retroactively. We just didn't get the fix-up code completed in time for today's patch. Everyone will get their progress.

So, still chipping at the event, at least is just simply killing waves of enemies. Did the big whaling and setting up characters last year, this year I'm kinda just grinding the campaign until I get the prize.

I hadn't even noticed that it wasnt applying to the annual thing, but hey I'm sure it'll get sorted one way or another

Couple things. First, they fixed the Event Campaign issue. Duty Officers still have ongoing issues:
    https://www.playstartrekonline.com/en/news/article/11573640

Second, there's a Section 31 giveaway right now on the Promotions tab, it includes the Section 31 Heavy Phaser Rifle that is the best weapon to use with Covert Assault Drone and some Holo costumes. I heavily reccomend people pick it up.

EDIT: The giveaway is not account wide so be careful with that, it works like the Alienware giveaways.

Howdy @borticuscryptic.bsky.social, regarding the Section 31 giveaway, the blog points towards it being "for your account", but the weapon is currently just for a single character.
Yeah, we're investigating that. It was intended to be Once Per Character.

Borticus doing double job as Dev and Community Manager since the new CM has paperwork issues.

  • tastydonutstastydonuts Registered User regular
aww, I was hoping it was for all characters on your account, not just for one character on your account. I'll be torn between giving this to my covert drone assault user or letting it live in my main's weapon cache forever. :<

Yes, but only once per, so you can't kit out all your boffs with 'em.

I don't think I've personally received anything I could print 5 copies per character of

I watched CasualSAB's video and while he also mentioned the blog and maybe it being broken... historically sometimes the wording isn't always clear.

I would claim it on multiple characters/captains, but I wouldn't use the Section 31 on all my boffs. it's supposed to make covert assault drone go nuts. You can get it to behave the same way with a few other weapons but it's not as intense as what I've seen in videos with the S31.

I very briefly tried it today. I guess it's the continuous beam sweep attack that procs it a million times on a single target?

  • tastydonutstastydonuts Registered User regular
yeah, the secondary attack causes the Covert Assault drone's attack to trigger a lot. But any weapon that has some kind of rapid/continuous fire will do it too so 2399 rifles (capt that uses covert is using one of these), Thompson secondary, Corfeld, ba'ul, vup...

oh wow, there's a new lockbox...I thought we were on infinity forever. It's theme is Discovery season 5... so... DiscoBreen

    The ship:
    wvdwbjtzot3n.png

    More drones!
    96s3ifkcdt2p.png

There's a trait that may just redefine the meta too:
    Breen Shield Tunneling

This trait increases your Shields and Armor Penetration and decreases Maximum Shield Hit Points.

CasualSAB video shows it as being it's +30% Shields and Armor Pen at the expense of -9.1% max capacity, which is nice.

Judicious use of the Vesta paint :)

Recently swapped into the Achilles after picking up the Shrike from last year's event prize. Turns out that A) Hex cannons are still very good, B) the Shrike trait (10% bonus damage per active Cannon/Beam/Torp/Experimental/Universal console) interacts with the console from the Winter ship, meaning that's a permanent 50% Bonus Damage in this ship, just from the trait. Which is nice. It's a fair bit squishier than my old Legendary Avenger, but really punchy in the same build.

Yeah, still doing the Atlantis, but the Hex cannons are 100% worth it for any Escort, they are really that good. The Legendary Avenger is all of that and a bag of chips, but I just don't like Miracle Worker ships, is a personal preference.

Last year I was boring and just picked the ship with the Immolating Phaser Lance since is a really fun button to press, now I'm 100% picking the World Razer.

Today the new episode finally goes up, so that's great.

Oh yeah, they "forgot" to mention on the Patch Notes that the new shiny Lockbox meta stuff ate a 50% nerf. Probably still good, but not just blatantly OP.

I liked the new episode. It pretty firmly nudged the story along which isn't always the case.

Realising I have to go do Omega particles forever because there's emotes in the rewards for that, unlike the TFO's.

  • AbacusAbacus Registered User regular
So, instead of 2 points per TFO, is 1, so you have to do either the episode and 2 of either TFOs or Omega particle event.

I have a set up ground build so can just blast Borg Battle Royale x 2, but that change is not great, and they confirmed it is intended.

so might see a change, who knows. 2x of Royal Flush is about 15min tops though so I'm not too fussed at this point

Still pondering picking up that shield tunnelling trait, if it goes below 100m I'll definitely think harder about it, but hopefully get lucky with the free keys :P

"We see you, we hear you" is a very cursed phrase at this point so I would have said literally anything else, but guess he can't say "yeah just keep spamming so the new suits can see their brilliant idea was dumb".

Isn't it usually like this when a new episode releases? The Ep is 2 credit everything else is 1. New company handling the game to yell at this time I guess?

  • HevachHevach Registered User regular
No, usually TFOs are also 2. Patrols and stuff like omega scanning are 1.

TFOs are now 2 points, but not retroactive, additionally some additional patrols now give point a point as well

Omega particles are fixed as well

Sometimes, in some locations, completing a scan / round of the minigame would not actually count for the mission, no matter how many times you did it.

oh neat... I thought that mission only broke on KDF captains. :O

edit: did they fix it so you can get all required locations for a completion KDF? I remember some days just not being able to do it on my KDF cars since there'd only be two spots on the quest itself.

Yay, finally got the latest episode. Why Kuumaarke is happy to see us when literally every time she meets with us death and destruction ensues is amusing.

    Is this new music? o_o

edit: guess a lot of people are playing through this mission atm, connection to the server keeps timing out in the middle of it. that's a good thing, sort of... lol

edit2: still can't complete the new episode. :V

I don't think I'm super great an evaluating ships off of stats, particularly since I'm not well versed in what the various seating gets you.

But is the only reason people are gushing about the Ark Royal because it has a secondary deflector?

Supposedly t6 coupons are working on the bundle ships even though they shouldn't, so I'm considering some of the ships in it, and am primarily a carrier fan. But there's already an announcement about adding secondary deflectors to other sci carriers if it's positively received, so if that's all that really stands out for it..

  • SnicketysnickSnicketysnick The Greatest Hype Man in WesterosRegistered User regular
it's partly the sec def and afaik partly the bridge seating an interesting interaction with a particular personal trait that reduces universal console CDs (as in there's a good lot of control powers available)

overall quite a strong package though, its certainly tempting.

as for the tokens working on bundles, that's been a case for a while now, i think starting with the Terran bundle you could pick and choose with certain T6 tokens (usually the year event ones were a good shot)

So, uh I ended up picking up the pack as I had the zen lying around and wanted to try out the Carrier, the broadside stuff and the Shangri-La, and I have to say the Carrier in particular is pretty excellent, a straight upgrade from my old Legendary Voyager, even with only T-X.

The broadside stuff is also good fun, I've been fiddling around with a more tanky FAW boat and all those bits came together quite nicely. It's a little odd not having Cruiser Commands on what is definitely a Cruiser but I'm making do so far.
