They've made six!? Why has nobody on this games-based forum ever spoken of it before?

To be fair most of us were mere teens when GTA5 first came out.

I was already in high school when GTA was released.

Like, the original one. Not GTA3, not GTA2, just straight up GTA.

I was in 6th grade for GTA1. I remember my friend telling me all the codes.

Yeah, like, the YouTube view count goes up if you watch the YouTube embed on Twitter. That picture is just showing how fake Twitter view count is, right?

    Right!

A Twitter "view" is literally just "does it show up on a screen? y/n" You don't have to interact with it, you don't have to linger on it, it's just "does it show up"

    it's completely fucking meaningless

It's also kind of a weird thing to say when Rockstar had to post the video early due to it leaking and kinda having their moment spoiled after the announcement.

"Come be strongarmed into doing a bunch of stuff you disagree with" is pretty on brand for Twitter these days tho

Also I seriously question Xitter's definition of what a "view" is.

It's mentioned in the community note. If you scrolled past it that was a view. Meanwhile YouTube counts actual click and view time as a view.

  • marajimaraji Registered User regular
I think they also count “left my mouse over the thumbnail while talking to someone” as a view.

Or “touched the thumbnail to initiate a scroll” in the app.

Its just more virtue signaling for his new alt-right buddies. "Cops are perfect paragons of justice who should never be questioned, I love them so much I couldn't even kill one in a videogame. Please continue to protect my assets and beat protestors who I disagree with" is very on brand.

Ironically I bet a shitload of cops play and enjoy the hell out of GTA while unironically gunning down cops left and right.

Because it's a fucking video game and what you do in a video game isn't the real world.

I've seen this before in real life, too. Someone feels the need to tell you about the game or movie they didn't finish, specifically so they can tell you about their garbage take that they know will get a rise because of how bad it is.

"I didn't like Avatar. It bothered me when they started doing terrorism against honest businessmen just trying to make a buck."

"I liked Newsies at first, but all I could think of was how many innocent people were suffering because of the trolley strike."

Plus, "crimes are cool but cops are even cooler" is the most basic take for conservatives pretending to be libertarians (aka libertarians).

I dunno about that most people were teens thing, I was 24 when GTA5 came out ten years ago and I think at this point I'm on the younger side of things for a regular.

I was a teen when GTA4 came out in 2008, though.

I'd say 5 was worth playing just for the 3 different stories aspect going on. But GTA is where rockstar lets their writing be as juvenile and shitty compared to literally any of their other games.

Its like you can see that they can write better plots and characters for other games they clearly think very little of the GTA playerbase. And based on all the wharblrbl about a made up rumor of a trans main character in GTA their thoughts on the GTA playerbase are 100% spot on.

I was not quite 20 when I played GTA2 on the college LAN multiplayer when we weren't playing CounterStrike.

But every moment I made a crime/played on the terrorists side I was so very sad because I'm such a good boy like that great man Errol Mahsque.

However, I was NOT sad playing HL MP with the headcrab scientist skin named 'crowbar_avenger' running aorund maps purposely swinging at the walls so my prey could hear the gung-gung gung-gung gung-gung gung-gung gung-gung gung-gung GUNG-GUNG GUNG-GUNG GUNG-GUNG GUNG-GUNG before the inevitable blumpblumpbeeeeeepbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

I never really got into the series, the most recent one I've played is 3. I just want to play in a setting that doesn't feel childish and depressing.

Saints Row were the Childish and ridiculous games.

Yeah I REALLY hope 6 goes in the RDR2 story direction. I'm not exactly holding my breath on that, but I do hope.
