Been a while since I've done one of these, so I'm not going to do ONE OF THOSE posts, but I will share an updated version of one I posted in the anime thread:
This is an Isekai-ass-Isekai, so I'll stick its description into spoilers.
It's curious in that where most isekai have their initial idea, create the world, and then get boring, this one honestly started out as mostly generic and has improved and improved to be one of the best things I read right now. Guy gets isekai'd but there's an error in the connection of him to the "system" so he's railroaded into a class, and whereas you're supposed to escape the starting area by reaching level 5, every time he's supposed to hit level 5 he hits an error and it resets him to level 1. The creatures he fights in that area are always his level, but keyed to his stats, and his stats continue increasing, but he's stuck there. Trapped. For twenty-two years. All the while being offered a way out of suicide, which he rejects. After that time, one of the Gods of the world finds him and ejects him into the regular world assuming he would die. And it turns out that other-world people are hunted and killed in this world because they are able to not only level via killing other people, but it induces a euphoric, addictive release in their brains thanks to the system hookup so they invariably become murderers if they happen to kill another person. A proper fantasy storyline goes from here which starts generic but ends up getting more and more elaborate and interesting, but most importantly the art - the action sequences in this are up there with peak early Solo Leveling. It's great. And what's interesting is that while this is based off a web novel, from those that have read it, it's apparently been doing its own thing for a while now and is MUCH better for it - it's just a delight to read.
Anyway, I was having a hard time finding a clean image of giant muscley guy from this one, so stealing from a splash logo.
Also, no harem or slavery, so....bonus.
Second one is my current obsession which has gotten me diving into the fucking webnovel for it, but it's another isekai-ass isekai: Surviving the Game as a Barbarian
Person gets obsessed with a roguelike game, finally gets to the final boss, gets a message, gets sucked into the game. His class is barbarian, so that's what he is, and he has to deal with it. Slight twist being that the concept of isekai'd people is known to the denizens of this world and they're all murdered on sight (concept stolen liberally from the previous series, but taken perhaps a bit further - there's entire secret police dedicated to finding and eradicating these people, and one of the first things he witnesses after waking up is another barbarian getting his head lopped off immediately because he uttered the name of the game, revealing himself as an "evil spirit."). He doesn't get any special abilities or anything, beyond having knowledge of the game, aside from the fact he's a barbarian with concepts and intelligence outside of what the class would normally have (giving buffs such as "is able to read." ) It's entertaining.
It's absolute junk food, which is kinda a given since it's an isekai, but it's still in its early stages of exploring the world so it hasn't overstayed its welcome yet. The fact that the main character isn't "overpowered" ala how isekai normally goes has been extremely refreshing - it's VERY OBVIOUS he's a small fish in a big pond even if he's growing more rapidly than usual, and there's actually a sense of "oh shit, things can fuck this guy up" in a way that isekai doesn't frequently get to. In the latest translated ones he's ended up in a dungeon with a number of higher-level people who could one-shot him and he knows it. So it's not STRAIGHT power fantasy...Just mostly.
No real harem (although their music is playing in the background - read: could easily see this going down that route) or slavery (although the protag treats his companions like an asshole because he's so focused on surviving and his internal monologue can get a bit grating because of it. It's the worst aspect of this series by far.)
Final one is one I've mentioned before but it's back from season break so I'm mentioning it again: Barbarian Quest.
This one is not an Isekai, and honestly not fantastical either, but rather a fictional world medieval adventure - think more Vinland Saga or Vikings than what you'd typically think of. Since not an isekai, not gonna stick in spoilers.
This is Ulfric, a Barbarian. His land is separated from all other civilizations by a large mountain range, and their folklore tells that when they die, their spirits go to an eternal meadow on the other side of it. Some warriors from the other side appear, and he kills them, but having found there's people from the place he thought was his religion's afterlife, he goes over into it, and finds himself in a foreign land, an empire. He then lives his life, working through various stages (gladiator, mercenary, etc) all the while questioning what the correct beliefs are, and being cognizant that if this empire finds where he is from they would conquer his people as well. He's an extremely adept fighter, but as noted, it's not a fantasy - no superpowers beyond "guy fight good" - what's interesting is that this one's not "RAH BARBARIAN FIGHT" sort of thing, but rather...he's cunning. He's savvy. It's a nice angle on that whole thing, and the religion thing basically makes this a manhwa written by a person who saw Vikings or one of the period pieces where the Nordic peoples were invading England and made a false-world version of that. I really enjoy this one.
And once more, no harem (hell, no romance...honestly to its negative practically no female characters PERIOD until recently), and slavery is...present, but ya know medieval slavery and bad, not something the protag engages in.

They're statistically real, though you're unlikely to notice it on an individual level. There's a few studies looking at smell as it relates to attraction. IIRC:
One where people's ranking of "which bo is the most attractive" mostly matched the attractiveness rankings that they gave to the photos of the same people.
Another which involved detecting how closely a person is related to you.
