    I am of the belief that the localized fan translations lose some of the meaning from the original source material.

    There was definitely a major tone shift from the first series and the new books. Too much retconning and handwaving for my taste.

    The real problem isn't the fan translations so much as all the nerds who insist only their version is the real canon the author intended.

    Some of them have weirdly successful patreons for their podcasts discussing material they didn't even write originally.
