As a medieval enthusiast:
a. This is someone who has definitely been inspired by medieval and renaissance art. Pretty much all of these scenes reference famous medieval and renaissance fencing art (including some of the art mocking fencing manuals).
b. This is also someone who took a look at one of the more famous fencing manuals (like Vonn Baumanns Fechtbuch or Fiore dei liberi) and when asked "So, which one of these fencing techniques do you want to use?" replied, "All of them". Everything from the ordinary (like basic fencing stances and the standard german fencing exchanges) to more exotic (throwing broken weapons, moves from judicial shield fencing, the Mordhau etc)

I also don't care about Star Trek at all, but I gradually made my way through the video on a second screen while working on other stuff, and I think it's really interesting even if you know nothing about any of the series involved. She does a pretty great job of explaining and breaking things down so that even if you have zero context you can still see where she's coming from.

I definitely played the arcade version of this at a laser tag place I used to go to like 15 years ago, I always thought the camera-based motion control thing was cool as hell
Like they spend some time talking about how the character designs were just too overwhelmingly obviously gay-coded as a contributing factor and that's just a silly take because I legit can't tell which characters he's talking about and also just not how that works! You don't sell a million fewer copies than you need to because of a vague sense that character designs aren't quite right.
