If I have a full map in front of me I could confidently label all but a few odd pairs/sets (Vermont/New Hampshire and Alabama/Mississippi are always 50/50 and a lot of the rectangular ones in the middle take some fiddling)
If you're showing me just the state borders without wider context, I'll probably drop a few more but not too many

Vermont is the one shaped like a V and Mississippi borders the Mississippi river so it has a really squiggly side. Now you'll never forget them (maybe).
It’s a shame that the whole internet wants you to learn American geography but America has no interest in learning anyone else’s geography. I think those of us blessed enough to be from Not The Great Satan should help by tutoring them in our homelands also.
To start, I’ve made a map of Australias states and territories, and some of our most important towns and regions. (I know people get confused about Australian state names so I’ve put those in boxes)
Also I’ve probably left off some of our other Aussie forumers hometowns and favorite spots, they should feel free to add to this map, or make a new and improved version
I was going to say that leaving our closest neighbours off made the map inaccurate.
But apparently the Principality of Hutt River no longer exists, as the property was sold back to the tax office during Covid in 2020.
So seems about right.

I definitely know Kentucky because it plus a bunch of other states look like a chef holding a tray, and Kentucky is on the tray, and I always think of it as a tray of KFC. But I struggle to remember any of the other states in the chef.

You forgot the big hot rock and the even bigger, even hotter rock
In Year 9 Geography for some reason we spent a whole term on the geography and geology of New Zealand. (I think it's because it also let us learn about things like glaciers and such, or maybe someone in the department was kicking them a bone)
For about ten years afterwards I could drop an incredibly accurate freehand map of New Zealand any time, anywhere, at zero notice
Unfortunately this ability left me once I left the southern hemisphere and had to learn about things like Schengen zones and Milwaukee.

Wait wait, Australia has two big, hot rocks? Well now I have to visit.
unfortunately the Italian state has violated their own aphorism, laughing in the face of Romulus by building Municipio XV, a road that explicitly leads neither to nor from Rome!
this is the sort of thing that caused Pompeii.
I learned more about Australian geography by watching Deadloch than I had ever known before just because it took place in somewhere that is never really shown in (exported) Australian media, and some characters kept being like "ugh we hate it here is so fucking far south and cold and the cell reception is terrible"
A lot of people aren't familiar with American geography and I think that's a shame.
This is a nation. With lots of places.
Now, I'm not an American myself, but I do live pretty close by, so even though I've never studied the exact geography myself, I've absorbed a perfect mental map of the United States through cultural osmosis (did you know Louisiana is shaped like a boot?)
So, come with me and learn a thing or two about the US of A. You might be surprised at what you don't know!
Now, what I've done is painstakingly label the most accurate map of the US that's ever been created.
How many states can you name? Hahaha, that was a good try.
Now, compare your answers to the correct ones below!
Happy learning friends!
That's right, everyone forget about Vermont, we're just gonna sit up here doing our own thing, quietly ignored while the rest goes to shit. It'll be fiiiiine.
Spent this week in the US, Detroit specifically and never once realized it was a small river away from Canada. Milwaukee is right there as well and I always assumed the Midwest was like, middle America and not top-America.
Fuckin work on your naming conventions your shit is too wacky. Can’t stand this bullshit.
Used to be able to name all 50 states and their capitals on a map, while also being able to spell them correctly. I could probably do that again, but I see little point, that's time I could put into something that would be more useful to me.
After all, I'm not an idiot, if I need to travel somewhere, I'd rather check a map to see what all the route takes me through to get to my destination, than risk trying to do it by memory and ending up lost in some random ass place. This country is full of crazy paranoid assholes, ending up trying to turn around in some driveway in buttfuck nowhere, is a recipe for getting shot by some murder loving asshole.

also I know that somewhere between "a lot" to "all" of those Australia names are made up but there are way too many that could go either way for me
Alaska
Hawaii
Texas
California
Nevada
Washington
Florida
Georgia
Mississippi
Alabama
North Carolina
South Carolina
Tennessee
Maine
I have a "general idea" about the rest.
I feel like I should know where New York is, but all those little ones in the Northeast kind of blur together.
If you're showing me just the state borders without wider context, I'll probably drop a few more but not too many

It's just regular Mexico, but they rebranded it for marketing reasons.
Alternative bad joke:
It's regular Mexico, but they added Wolverine to the population.
For a map of Europe I'd probably go England, France, Germany and places where England, France and Germany fought their wars.

Why bother with a map, all roads lead to Rome anyhow

This is sort of actually true of ancient Roman maps
Their map equivalents were kind of just lists of places that you would get to if you kept going down the same road
You've got the general location correct, now you just have to remember it's the big fat one with the penis island.
Fuckin work on your naming conventions your shit is too wacky. Can’t stand this bullshit.
That’s really cool to learn!

I still have my certificate from 5th grade for knowing every state and capitol. it's laminated
I had this book called 'Our 50 States' and probably read it 1,000 times
