just had a short brief exchange with an ex today. i got really emotional and sad. ive been slowly recovering from health issues and being bedridden for over a year, and really just started working out a lot today. ive been getting out more and socializing instead of being a hermit, and I really want to do more. I think I might join a local gym to add to my home workouts, or join a rock climbing gym and start taking some lessons. maybe even some yoga or pilates, I dont know. I feel like the best way to get out of a rut is to focus on yourself and I feel like I should be doing that
Not to dogpile but your cat meme production is down too so if you could step it up in that department
we watch Brit trivia shows, last night a question involved what NYC neighborhood is some museums and stuff in, despite never having been there I snap out the upper east side, explain to partner that well when Venkman asks Janosz where his accent was from, he says the upper west side, so I figured just one over since nobody lives exactly where they work. It was the right answer. Trivia!
I'm just relieved he doesn't have to keep playing Darth Vader in worse and worse pieces of media
Was Kenobi the last one he voiced (with some assistance from post-production)? Or had he already retired by that point and the synthesized Jones was already being used in full?
James Earl Jones's voice is used for Darth Vader, as with previous Star Wars media, but his lines in the series were generated by an AI program called Respeecher (which was also used for Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett) based on recordings of Jones from the films.
I'm just relieved he doesn't have to keep playing Darth Vader in worse and worse pieces of media
now he can do it forever, with the magic of AI

Weave I understood that reference
Also related an old timer in a young persons meeting used Louis outside with the monster chasing him banging on the window while people ate dinner inside as an example of how he felt growing up and a reason he started drinking
I was the only person that laughed at it

We'll all be circled up in the home complaining about posters that died 20 years prior?
we already complain about people who left like 10 years ago

In my friend group at least theres a really weird gap between early millennials and mid millennials
Mainly in pop culture and media consumption but also lived experiences like being a latchkey kid or feeling an affinity for Goonies because Kids on Bikes was a thing growing up

A lady dies on a Friday at a Wells Fargo in the cubicle, but she isn’t found until the following week. This article blames “hybrid work” (work from home) for it. As if the physical wellbeing of the employee is the responsibility of other employees and not the company employing them. It’s not an employee’s job to check up on all of the other employees, unless that’s what they are being paid to do in their job description. I mean, good lord. A woman died, and it’s tragic, but this isn’t because “we let everyone work from home”… she died just before a weekend, when few people are working anyway.
There’s also this gem:
“Because of HIPAA, I can’t just go and say, ‘Hey, I think George is ill.’ I’ll get shut down by HR in a heartbeat. You can’t talk about medical conditions,” says Stehlik.
That’s not how HIPAA works! That’s not how any of this works!

I just read in Swedish public service that skibidi toilet is a Russian psyop.
Or rather I read an oped in a newspaper saying that Swedish public service claiming that skibidi toilet being a Russian psyop is paranoid. So I choose to believe that it is.

I need to break down and just buy an old "20+ movies" noir collection on DVD from Ebay. They used to be in Dollar General and Walmart all the time, but they've gotten rarer.
I want some Black and White stuff for the vault and I want to do a Noirvember at some point
(Hm I should read that book about the immortal bromancers tho)
which black archive?
I think he means Black Library, and is referring to The Infinite & The Divine

I can’t wait until the next pandemic hits and our society repeats the argument that actually WFH is inherently lazy and bad and we need to feed as many bodies to The Line as we can so that it continues to go up

I don’t even know what this means anymore

Edit: Looks like he'd already been replaced by the time Kenobi came out:

Remind me again whose name is on the lease for that building and who that lady was employed by, my memory is foggy
which black archive?
It was ok, nothing special. Some parts really did not age well at all.

Yeah I mean there’s always outliers and stuff
I hadn’t seen Rambo First Blood until I was in my 30s, same with Nightmare on Elm Street
Edit: it's a trilogy, to be clear:
The Carrion Throne
The Hollow Mountain
The Dark City
No, it’s just some corporate shill writer on Fortune. She also claims work from home killed “Summer Fridays”.
edit that cant be right
