Some people were raised so soft. That dead rat isn't even rotting or maggot infested. And REAL glass? Lucky. We had to settle for a plastic-y glass substitute. It was stale and had no satisfying crunch at all. That sand is ridiculous though. Regular dirt is fine, no need to get fancy.
I feel like they took the lazy way out with both sand and glass. That's like including mash potatoes and french fries. They should have at least included some dirt to round out the nutrient content.

I'd suggest that sand is just processed dirt.
What we really need is some nice tasty pond scum.
Before looking at the newspost I assumed this was referencing the Mr. Beast Prime stuff or maybe a different influencer that had done a good equivalent.
Finding out that Mr. Beast is doing a food thing while embroiled in legal troubles over the drink thing is just wild.
in the 80s everyone thought a future dystopia would have corporations chopping up Humans to sell as food to other Humans.
They could have never foreseen them selling expensive almost-but-not-legally-considered Food to parents that can barely afford to feed their kids as-is, just because the kids know the guy on the box on the internet.

Yeah I gotta be real, part of the massive fail here is parents basing any food purchases off of a child's parasocial relationships. Just buy a pack of whole wheat soft flatbread, a block of mozz, a pack of pepperoni, and a bottle or can of pizza sauce, and you can make a "lunchable" that is probably way healthier, and probably cheaper. Might involve a couple minutes per day portioning out the ingredients and packing them for use as a lunch and interacting with the children beyond tossing a box of processed slop at them. The absolute horror.
I was a latchkey kid with a single parent and they easily managed that much until I was old enough to be taught how to cook. And my family had to drive out of county to find an actual grocery store, so I'm not exactly receptive to "food desert" excuses either.
I am dismayed that some parents rely on that more than anything else other than cooking easy, better meals for their children at home. A little prep goes a long way and it is so much easier on the kids!
This is a bit off-topic, but it's probably worth posting here for the community. I'd make it a top level post in this forum if I could (and it was allowed).
Basically, PA is completely severing its support of the forum, and they're planning for how to keep the lights on going forward.
The reason I post here is that one topic being bandied about is that if there is any "The Penny Arcade Hub" in the new reality, it might just be a single thread in some other forum, where discussion of every comic and newspost are just mixed together.
I know a lot of the people here are only here, so I figure it's worth pointing it out to them in case they want to weigh in. I'm not talking about spamming the thread, but letting them know how you feel. Hell, maybe I'm the only one that feels like that'd basically be the death of me visiting the forum regularly.

Fiction may not have foreseen it but the industry sure as fuck did.

yes there's a link at the top of each page saying "the future of pa forums" I had a quick read of it but I'm only here for the daily comic threads. If you wanted a one thread per day set up we could move this to reddit but reddit sucks

Yeah, I don't think you can really transplant a community. You can create a new one, but that's something different. I'll miss this space if it goes away. A single thread just won't be the same.
