For me it was either the time a bunch of people changed their avatars to xenomorphs across like two days, a really good game of Werewolf a long time ago, and the last two months where everyone has been working to build a new forum.

The time the StarCraft thread took a bunch of whining and arguing among bronze league buffoons (including me!) and turned it into a charity show match tournament that ran for years and raised many dollars for children’s hospitals as part of Child’s Play.

The above, but with the maze guy from Oglaf; a really good game of X-COM a long time ago (again, @Fishman ); and the last two months.

And one of the posts I'm still most proud of is at the top of this thread.
The only sour note is that I made it at the start of what turned out to be a really bad day.
Yeah, it was that day in November 2016.

Silly little memory to start.Someone wanted to make their car play "Samus Aran's Appearance Fanfare" whenever they opened the door. I jumped in the the discussion and the final product ended up being a gutted record your own message greeting card attached to the door and the car frame. It worked pretty good .

The other, just absolutely wonderful memory, was the Steam Thread Space Battle hosted by @akajaybay a decade ago. I still have the thing archived on my Google Drive

I can't remember the particular jokes - they don't matter - but I remember days where I'd be in a good mood in chat and joking and riffing back and forth in a good rythym -- puns, meta commentary, whatever -- and people seemed to be enjoying it. And I've since hosted folks at my house and ridden a motorcycle like 1000 miles to go see them, how about them apples.

D&D Secret Santa was also great; I couldn't participate this year but I had a blast on either end for the years I did and I still have art and spices and headphones and all kinds of stuff that make me think fondly of my Santas

I'm biased as fuck but the birth of the Oosik Irregulars and the trajectory that took is definitely up there.

A Flock of Walrus got banned from Mechwarrior Online during its early testing due to leaking us screenshots so we christened the PA MWO group in their honor. Get some cool art, we get a funny story about our origins written, have lots of fun...

and then get fucking canonized in the official Battletech 2nd Succession Wars source book which also means we have a Sarna page
    https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Oosik_Irregulars

This incarnation of forums will close and we'll all eventually turn to dust but the Oosik Irregulars are eternal

PAX West Coast Train Trip 2007-2010. Organized via the forums, so it counts!

At some point the train trip was more fun than PAX itself.

edit: Remember when people who weren't part of our cult would walk into the downstairs arcade game room that we had hijacked with a rock band setup, and anyone older than 20 would be like grandpasimpson.gif out of the room because we were horribly uncool nerds, and then any random kids who wanted to participate were shunted to the front of the line and made to feel like the star of the show

Too Human wasn't as bad as the jokes made it out to be, but Dennis Dyack popping up like god damn Beetlejuice anytime his name was mentioned to defend it was far more interesting than anything in the actual game.

When one of the ranger threads mysteriously and for no adequate reason just turned into pages and pages of sexy nuns, leading the mods to shut it down harder than I had ever seen a thread shot down to that point.

When I got Gabe to endorse me for the Nintendo Street Team on the main page, so multiple threads appeared in the chat sub-forum trying to figure out who I was with titles like “WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU YOU SUNUVABITCH!”

When Gabe and Tycho got a question about the phorum at a PAX panel and their response was something along the lines of “we don’t know who they are or endorse any aspect of that place” leading to some serious self-reflection by the Mods and the forumers, eventually culminating in the Glorious Edict and a massive overhaul of who we were and how we operated.

    Yeah uh.

That was my question at the PAX.

I believe my exact line, as a melodramatic autistic guy running on pure exhilaration and fueled by the good times with the other mods and Nads, asked them why they had "Forsaken us, the forums."

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

It was a time in the Canadian politics thread. A lot of us were worried about the state of things at the time, including climate change, and PEI had just elected the Greens as the opposition.
Discussing logistics of that beautiful little island, someone in trying to defend that they weren't that quaint, claimed that they had multi-story buildings. Upon some quick research, it was discovered that the tallest building on PEI was ... maybe 10 stories. Without missing a beat, someone changed the thread title to, "We're all moving to the tallest building in PEI", or something like that.

Many, many great memories on these forums, but that was just such a moment of synchronicity and comradery, all coming together so seamlessly.
