Free Palestine From The River To The Sea - Amn Intl Finds Israel Committing Genocide

The genocide of the Palestinian people continues in Gaza.

Amnesty International concluded it's investigation this month, joining several other organisations finding that Israel is commiting genocide against the Palestinian people.
Amnesty International’s research has found sufficient basis to conclude that Israel has committed and is continuing to commit genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip, the organization said in a landmark new report published today.

The report, ‘You Feel Like You Are Subhuman’: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza, documents how, during its military offensive launched in the wake of the deadly Hamas-led attacks in southern Israel on 7 October 2023, Israel has unleashed hell and destruction on Palestinians in Gaza brazenly, continuously and with total impunity.

“Amnesty International’s report demonstrates that Israel has carried out acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, with the specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza. These acts include killings, causing serious bodily or mental harm and deliberately inflicting on Palestinians in Gaza conditions of life calculated to bring about their physical destruction. Month after month, Israel has treated Palestinians in Gaza as a subhuman group unworthy of human rights and dignity, demonstrating its intent to physically destroy them,” said Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International.

“Our damning findings must serve as a wake-up call to the international community: this is genocide. It must stop now.

“States that continue to transfer arms to Israel at this time must know they are violating their obligation to prevent genocide and are at risk of becoming complicit in genocide. All states with influence over Israel, particularly key arms suppliers like the USA and Germany, but also other EU member states, the UK and others, must act now to bring Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza to an immediate end.”
“Our research reveals that, for months, Israel has persisted in committing genocidal acts, fully aware of the irreparable harm it was inflicting on Palestinians in Gaza. It continued to do so in defiance of countless warnings about the catastrophic humanitarian situation and of legally binding decisions from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering Israel to take immediate measures to enable the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza,” said Agnès Callamard.
“Taking into account the pre-existing context of dispossession, apartheid and unlawful military occupation in which these acts have been committed, we could find only one reasonable conclusion: Israel’s intent is the physical destruction of Palestinians in Gaza, whether in parallel with, or as a means to achieve, its military goal of destroying Hamas,” said Agnès Callamard.

“The atrocity crimes committed on 7 October 2023 by Hamas and other armed groups against Israelis and victims of other nationalities, including deliberate mass killings and hostage-taking, can never justify Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.”
Israel’s actions following Hamas’s deadly attacks on 7 October 2023 have brought Gaza’s population to the brink of collapse. Its brutal military offensive had killed more than 42,000 Palestinians, including over 13,300 children, and injured over 97,000 more, by 7 October 2024, many of them in direct or deliberately indiscriminate attacks, often wiping out entire multigenerational families. It has caused unprecedented destruction, which experts say occurred at a level and speed not seen in any other conflict in the 21st century, levelling entire cities and destroying critical infrastructure, agricultural land and cultural and religious sites. It thereby rendered large swathes of Gaza uninhabitable.

A reminder that the official death toll only includes those directly killed by military force by Israel that were able to be directly identified. It does not include those that have died from disease or starvation.

The full report can be read here if you wish to.

So what happened to the rest of north Gaza’s population? There used to be hundreds of thousands of people there. Were they driven from their homes? Were they all killed? Looks like @USAmbIsrael is admitting that Israel ethnically cleansed northern Gaza.

This entire administration should be perp walked to the fucking Hague.

Tedros Ghebreyesus is Director-General of the World Health Organization

Bruno Maçães is the former Portuguese Secretary of State for European Affairs 2013-2015, Political Advisor to the Portuguese Prime Minister for two years directly before that.

Our mission to negotiate the release of @UN staff detainees and to assess the health and humanitarian situation in #Yemen concluded today. We continue to call for the detainees' immediate release.

As we were about to board our flight from Sana’a, about two hours ago, the airport came under aerial bombardment. One of our plane’s crew members was injured. At least two people were reported killed at the airport. The air traffic control tower, the departure lounge — just a few meters from where we were — and the runway were damaged.

We will need to wait for the damage to the airport to be repaired before we can leave.

My UN and @WHO colleagues and I are safe.

Our heartfelt condolences to the families whose loved ones lost their lives in the attack.

Israel almost killed the head of WHO

    Two people were killed

    Two people were killed

Does it still count as a rogue state when the planet’s imperial hegemon backs everything it does to the hilt through economic and physical violence against anyone who would resist the state’s terror?

But you see, supporting Israel is good for the stability of the region or something. Anyone saying otherwise is a liar, a racist, and/or a terrorist and should be ridiculed and ignored.

Israel burns northern Gaza’s last functioning hospital; patients and staff removed, reports NBC News
"The operating and surgical departments, laboratory, maintenance, and emergency units have been completely burned, and the fire is now spreading to the buildings," the [Health Ministry's] statement said.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, the hospital's head, said in an Instagram story that the Israeli army was “burning all the operating departments in the hospital” while medical staff was still present inside. He added that some of the staff had also been arrested.

Shortly after, the Health Ministry issued a statement saying that the fate of the staff and patients had become “unknown” after “communication with the hospital director was cut off.”

The attack and removals follow an Israeli airstrike that hit a building opposite the hospital Thursday, killing approximately 50 people, including five medical staff, according to the Health Ministry.
Israeli attacks on the hospital over the past few weeks have killed several medics and patients at Kamal Adwan, including the hospital’s ICU director, Dr. Ahmed al-Kahlout.

The Palestinian Health Ministry noted that the three public hospitals operating in the northern Gaza Strip — Beit Hanoun Hospital, Indonesian Hospital and Kamal Adwan Hospital — are now all out of service.

Babies are freezing to death in so-called "humanitarian zones," which are still subjected to Israeli attacks, reports CNN
In the past week, at least four infants have died of hypothermia from low temperatures and a lack of access to warmth while living in tents, Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra, the head of pediatrics and obstetrics at Nasser Hospital, in Khan Younis, said on Thursday. Among them were a three-day-old and a one-month-old who also died in Al-Mawasi, he said.

Staff in the neonatal ICU see at least five cases of hypothermia per day, added Al-Farra. Reduced breastfeeding and limited availability of infant formula has severely compounded the risk of hypothermia among babies, he told CNN. Meanwhile, health workers are struggling to treat young patients due to shortages of electricity, diesel and other fuel.

“This is one of the disastrous results of this criminal war,” said Al-Farra.

Are they? I thought that other than the US and maybe the UK, the rest of the world was pretty solidly on fuck Israel for doing this. Hence the UN actions blocked by the US. The problem is the US government is running political and military shielding for Israel. As well as funding the genocide.

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, fuck the Israeli and US Governments for doing this. This is horrific and they are monsters.

I just don’t think the rest of the world supports or cheers it on.

Shit, the rest of the world is barely flirting with unleashing harsh language upon Israel. They’re certainly not providing the level of support that the USA does, but as far as the rest of the world goes it’s South Africa and I guess The Republic of Ireland fighting the good fight, and everyone else going ‘lalalalalala I can’t hear you’.

Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!

While destroying the last hospital in Gaza, Israel killed five journalists reporting on it, including one that was newly a father with his child inside the hospital.

After initially claiming that they were not journalists, the IDF eventually admitted that they were journalists but that they were engaged in "combat propaganda" and therefore a reasonable target to bomb their broadcast vehicle while they were inside.

On journalism, Drop Site News has a piece about the vast editorial bias within the BBC on reporting in the Middle East related to Gaza, and Israel broadly.
The BBC is facing an internal revolt over its reporting on Israel’s war on Gaza.

Their primary battlefield has become the online news operation. Drop Site News spoke to 13 current and former staffers who mapped out the extensive bias in the BBC’s coverage and how their demands for change have been largely met with silence from management. At times, these journalists point out, the coverage has been more credulous about Israeli claims than the UK’s own Conservative leaders and the Israeli media, while devaluing Palestinian life, ignoring atrocities, and creating a false equivalence in an entirely unbalanced conflict.

The BBC journalists who spoke to Drop Site News believe the imbalance is structural, and has been enforced by the top brass for many years; all of them requested anonymity for fear of professional retribution. The journalists also overwhelmingly point to the role of one person in particular: Raffi Berg, BBC News online’s Middle East editor. Berg sets the tone for the BBC’s digital output on Israel and Palestine, they say. They also allege that internal complaints about how the BBC covers Gaza have been repeatedly brushed aside. “This guy’s entire job is to water down everything that’s too critical of Israel,” one former BBC journalist said.
The internal critique peaked again in December, after journalists say the BBC failed to highlight Amnesty International’s report concluding that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Senior correspondents expressed their dismay at the angle chosen for the limited broadcast coverage. In a WhatsApp group of senior Middle East correspondents, editors, and producers—referred to as ‘the big dogs’ by BBC management—one posted the chyron during coverage on the BBC news channel: “Israel rejects ‘fabricated’ claims of genocide.” Another commented: ‘FFS!!—It’s an open goal for those who say we’re frit [afraid] of upsetting the Israelis and keep on couching our stories in an ‘Israel says’ narrative’. As one BBC journalist puts it to me: “These are established senior correspondents—and it’s even bothering them.”

    zv8dnvounst2.png
The Amnesty International report was also not afforded proper attention by BBC online, the staffers say. It appeared on the BBC front page, but long after the embargo on reporting ended, leading award-winning TV producer Richard Sanders to ask “Why on earth did it take them 12 hours?” Even then, it appeared as the seventh item in order of importance. And for a week after it was reported, the story about the world’s most famous human rights organization concluding that Israel was committing genocide did not appear in the ‘Israel-Gaza war’ index tab which remains fixed at the top of the BBC news front page. The BBC told Drop Site News that this was a mistake. The Amnesty story was added to the index several days after the report was released, meaning traffic to the story was suppressed.

According to data seen by BBC journalists, in the first few days the story received around 120,000 hits. One BBC journalist suggests that—if it had been on the Israel-Gaza index featured on the BBC news front page—it would have attracted far more traffic. They note a story which appeared on the Israel-Gaza index and was just one day older, concerning the recovery of the body of an Israeli hostage from Gaza, garnered around 370,000 hits.

In addition to what they see as a collective management failure, journalists expressed concerns over bias in the shaping of the Middle East index of the BBC news website. Several allege that Berg “micromanages” this section, ensuring that it fails to uphold impartiality. “Many of us have raised concerns that Raffi has the power to reframe every story, and we are ignored,” one told me.
It is difficult to overstate the influence of the BBC’s online operation. According to media watchdog Press Gazette, the BBC news website, which includes both news and non-news content, is the most-visited news site on the internet. In May alone, it had 1.1 billion visits, dwarfing second-place finisher msn.com, which had 686 million visits.

Wafa news agency is reporting that Jonathan Whittall, a senior official of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Territory (OCHA), said in a statement that Israeli authorities have rejected more than 140 UN requests to enter northern Gaza during the last two months.

Israeli military forces have carried out 34 air strikes in the last 24 hours, resulting in a death toll of 71 people, Gaza’s Government Media Office has said. Medical sources earlier told Al Jazeera at least 63 people had been killed in Gaza.

Most of these strikes have occured within the so-called "humanitarian safe zones" designated by the same IDF that are committing the attacks.
