The battle began shifting away from him, and while Zin was relieved, he also needed to help his allies. Shifting a little closer, he throws another poison seed at the Badger. He aims his healing mist at Cid again, intent on trying to protect as much as he can.
Move to C2 so I'm in range.
Sow on Badger. I believe he's still poisoned, so he should be branded as well now (and saves at end of turn).
1 auto hit dmg, plus 2 pierce dmg.
Also, Rohan gets another bless.
Fire regenerate on Cid.
That's 3 blessing tokens out there, so if Cid hits, I can consume them all to give Cid pierce, bonus dmg, and activate the slay effect of the power used (regardless of it slaying).
Oh and before I forget, for branded, the Badger saves at the end of his turn because I'm a Mendicant.
Statuses are normally saved for at the end of turns. Although I've maybe oopsied that occasionally.
The Badger is still Poisoned, that's a Blight and unlikely to be removed anytime soon.
The poison seed lands on the Megabadger, damaging it only slightly, but it twitches as the distracting poison spreads...
It is Branded now, so +1 Boon to attacks on it! Next up is Cidryn, unless you wanna delay your turn to go after.
Also in other news, version 1.5 of ICON is out! It's a bit tempting to try and switch to it, as combat especially seems to have been significantly streamlined and had a lot of overhead reduced. But it's almost a whole new rules system, so I'd probably suggest we stick with 1.45, unless y'all think otherwise.
Looks like all my abilities get renamed, and the big thing is No Blights.
So Cid gets a lot of things as standard instead of needing electrified, and Ronhan has been refocused on keeping enemies at distance 3 from himself, and his new spirit friend.
Aether not really relevant any more.
Cid looks back up at his friends, as he feels the Mendicant's magic kick in.
A growing sense of desperation starts gnawing at him.
He can't contain the threat, now that his barrier has fallen.
So all he can do is try and end this, and quickly.
Cid uses his heavy melee again.
Geth roll 1d20+2d6k1 for height and branded hit
Geth roll 3d8k2+5 for bonus damage
And taking another blessing if possible for another d8
Geth roll 1d8 for blessing
A good start, I enjoyed this first episode. I wonder how much of this game they’re going to do. Obviously not everything, I’m sure a lot of the side quests will not be done.
That is certainly a lot of changes in 1.5. I'm fine swapping but I'd like a chance to look over the new rules and maybe reselect my abilities since they've all had significant changes.

If we swap, imo I'd vote for the ability to change anything you like, mechanically. No fun getting "stuck" with something you didn't even pick.
If we do change things, I think I would like to change my bond as well if that's alright. When I made Rohan, I thought I'd be playing up him seeking the hidden mystery of his backstory but he's ended up being a lot more of a magical cowboy then I was expecting. The pathfinder bond is making more sense for how the character has turned out.
Also "magical cowboy" seems like just the best description possible

Hit 4 plates on my 5v5 deadlift, which is an arbitrary and not especially impressive thing but given that I only started deadlifting again in February I'm quite pleased at the speed of progress.
They stopped people just teleporting around red dudes though
But I'm fine with changing over.
No more Bolt though.
There's a teleport around the field dealing piercing damage instead.
Actually the new Blitz is weirdly worded.
You teleport twice and deal 1 damage twice.
And then deal a [D] to a foe in range 3.
And then make them vulnerable.
Thought Cid no longer had a standard single action ranged attack because the D was sandwiched in there
So I’ve been backing up my “max effort” upper and lower days and decided to go a little lighter on my bench day today and call it “speed work” to reset my week and go push heavier on Friday so I just did a shit ton of volume. Not true rep effort where I’d hit failure but did:
3x25x35# DB bench s/s band facepulls 3x15
Swiss bar bench 5x135/185/225
Fat DB Row 4x8x100# s/s v handle bench 4x10x135
Fat EZ bar curls 3x8x95/115/135 s/s band tricep pushdowns 3x20 s/s neck work off the bench 3x10x25# plate
I feel positively pumped.

Here's a fun aside. There is no limit to the amount of Boons you can have in an attack or save or anything in Tactical Combat. The 2-dice limit is for Narrative gameplay only, which is distinct from combat. Stack on those boons woo!
And with that said, now that I'm catching up, I realize that I don't have another turn to take. The Megabadger's Defense is 12, so Cidryn's attack just hits! And 20 HP is enough to finish it off! Disc, you wanna narrate your finishing blow on y'all's first Elite enemy?
After we deal with the aftermath of this fight, this will be the end of our second session. Feel free to go through your XP triggers and refresh anything on a "per session" cooldown! (Do the XP publicly imo so that we can all see how we're doing!)
Cidryn stares down the badger, as it readies itself for another frenzied attack. It's too quick. Filling the area with lightning didn't help.
Grinning greedily, it bobs, waiting for Cidryn to make its move.
But it is none-the-less hurting from the seeds in its hide, and restricted by Ronhan's glowing chain.
Cidryn decides.
The badger lunges!
But it only has a split-second to register confusion, before Cidryn's glowing palm parries the Badger's forearm. Dodge this
There is a bright illumination and the acrid scent of burning hair.
Cidryn collapses, or rather sits, to the ground heavily and tries to breathe, as the monster slumps to the ground before him. Thought he had us.

Worked up to 2 sets of 275 pound rack pulls for reps of 5 and then a final set of 5 or 6 at 285. Dropped to 225 and ripped out about 10 of those and then hit 110lb cable goblet squats. I was supposed to do barbell back squats but my back doesn't like that much work so I've been swapping that out for like, hack squats or goblet squats.
Felt pretty good. I ate a ton of salmon, shrimp and grits last night and then woke up this morning and packed in 140gs of egg whites with two whole eggs and about 46 grams (dry, 1 serving) instant oatmeal.
I've also been upping my calories lately and taking an actual multivitamin, not just zinc and D3 and thats had some slight but seemingly positve effects on how I feel over all. Nutrients probably helped me pull better is what I'm saying.
I wanted to try and get at least my rack pull over 300 but I still don't feel confident enough to try that again. I feel like my hips are loosening up some though, and I'm able to hinge better. I've been making it a point to just squat down at work when I'm standing around and sink through my hips to try and really stretch those adductors. This seems to have the benefit of keeping my lower back from trying to round as much in my lifts, but my squats still have a hard cut off point in the load. So if I get much above 155lbs it's like my hips stiffen up and I can't get as deep, that cues my lower back in more than I'd like because I guess it's trying to compensate. So I'm still stone walled there.
Also, I was probably doing them wrong, but I tried throwing in some rotational stuff a la Dead Legends rec but I kinda felt like it was my obliques taking over and I'm not sure if that's right or not?
Point of rack pulls is to shorten the ROM and increase the over all load to target the lockout phase of the lift. Supposed to help build a stronger overall deadlift so I like to throw them in occasionally.
I think I'm giving up on trying to workout on the days I work until I start my new role in August. Getting up at 3 am to workout before work burns me out and trying to hype myself up to go in and workout after 12+ hour shifts has become a real struggle. The workouts I do manage to talk myself into usually suck.
So I think I'm gonna just try and hit it hard on my days off, which won't be awful per se. It just means I'll only get two days per week every other week. My short weeks I can fit 4 or 5 days in if I want. Once I get on my 8-5 I'm gonna try and get back into it right. Hopefully I'll have a mental and a physical refresh once I'm off these 12s. I've been trying to maintain this schedule for like, 4 or 5 years and I think I'm just burned.

That’s pretty similar to me when I’m in-season for the last two years. If I could hit my two planned days and cobble together a third in 30 - 45 minutes at some point during the week that was a victory. And often times those short workouts were more enjoyable because I picked one thing that I felt like doing and after getting the ball rolling with that moved on to something else that I definitely didn’t want to do at the start.
You’d be surprised how well it works out. And once you get your new schedule you’ll gain like 15 hours a week.

My back is pretty lit up. Rebuilding the cheap play set we got to replace some rotten boards today should be fun.
So Cid gets a lot of things as standard instead of needing electrified, and Ronhan has been refocused on keeping enemies at distance 3 from himself, and his new spirit friend.

Back to 9 HP - 9 Vigor
But hopefully, 12 is enough to hit Ronhan, and 20 is like all of Ronhan's HP, so maybe the badger is just dead. Or on like 2 HP
Get hype y'all

The more I read the more I'm in favor of a swap. You all know the rules better than I do but it seems like they got simpler/more straightforward

Total, I would just be fully bragging about it if I went from not deadlifting at all for years to hitting 5x5s with 8 plates in 4 months.
nice milestone. For future reference, when people say "x plates" they're usually referring to per side (just saying to avoid confusion)

Did some box jumps yesterday and got to 90cm which felt pretty chill. I'd like to do a 1m box jump though, maybe 1.1m? That'd be ace.
