What's the difference between a bail bondsman and a bounty hunter?
a bailbondsman is an agent who. (this is a long explanation) a bailbondsman will go to the court and someone will need bonded. the person in trouble (bondee) will agree to pay 10% of the total bond amount instead of paying the courts the full amount. (thus meaning a $2000 dollar bond becomes $200) after paying the bondsman will promise the court that the bondee will return to court on a specific date. if the bondee decides to skip bail (meaning that they dont show up for court) then the bondsman will either have to catch them or pay the FULL bond amount to the court. this is where bounty hunters come in. bondsman will hire bounty hunters to go catch the bond skipper. but most bailbondsman (the one i work for) often prefer to go catch their own bond skippers with the help of a bounty hunter. so in summary. bounty hunter hunts people who skip bail. bailbondsman posts bail at a cheaper price.
I'm in the middle of getting so royally ass raped right now, because I bailed a friend out of jail.
Don't ever ever ever bail someone out of jail.
ever
Isn't there a thing where you can bail someone out but then opt out of being responsible for them. But then I think if the money is refunded it goes to them so you're kinda screwed out of some money if you can't trust them to give it back.

no. the money wouldnt go back to them. the money would go to the co-signer. (if you used a bondsman) and if you opted out of being responsible, your friend would go back to jail on forfeiture of bond. (once again, this only applies if your using a bondsman.) if you bonded them out with your own cash. i dont think you can get the cash back. or opt out of responsibility.

not really. the bondsman hires the bounty hunters to go get the people who skip bail. i occasionally get to work with them.

I meant that "dog" in the same way I would normally say "eh" at the end of a sentence.
