It's so fucking hard trying to get the proportions on some of these characters right.
A photo was used as a reference.

Mild progress. Next practice I do will be more dynamic, perhaps landscape, and be totally referenced because I don't know where to go with this. God, I'm terrible at making things not look totally bland. That's where I need practice, like dynamic lighting and coloring...(also anatomy, perspective, and many other things).

Thanks, Ed, I appreciate that - like I said, it's been hard getting all the proportions on those characters down enough to do the work.
I've been a fan of Uncle Scrooge since the DuckTales cartoon (which surprisingly still holds up pretty well today), but reading those Don Rosa books was what made me realize I wanted to draw for Duck comics. He took a character most people see as irrelevant and kiddie and made it incredibly readable. The scene where Scrooge's parents' spirits go on to the afterlife? Holy shit. I only wish they'd do an animated version of the 'Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck' series.
It's just an inspiring reminder that if you're a good enough writer or artist, no character is impossible to create really amazing stories for. It helps that the Ducks are such great characters to begin with, but still.

Also so here's a quick doodle of a tatoo I'm planning on getting, my drawing is a lot more clean but when I took a picture of it (damn you scanner that I don't have) it messed up so I quick painted over it in PS. I know it's your plain old eye of horus but I've been thinking about and researching it for about 7 years (my junior year in HS) and i've finally decided to go through with it.

I was trying to aim for the charcoal look, whereby if I shrunk it enough it'd look handdrawn. No such luck. And I think it's meant to be some sort of marine in futurearmour (TM). You can tell by the big shoulders, bigger gun, and look of constipated defiance.
EDIT: Actually it doesn't look too bad shrunk to avatar level. Almost-success!
Also, that would indeed be an awesome tattoo if you can get the realism across while still maintaining that eye of horus vibe. Where are you gonna get it? I'm assuming upper arm or something, right?
If you squint, it is incredibly hard to tell what is what. You've got too much "scribble" going on, and there is zero contrast. It looks like you did minor outlines of stuff and then scribbled in the tones...only there is't any variety (no highlights, no shadows) so everything is getting lost. If you clean that up some...add some shadows and highlights, it will read MUCH better when you shrink it down to avatar size.
Self-portrait I did earlier in the year. My friend's standing next to it, so guess you can kind of tell how big it is. It's really warped in this picture, though. It was all done in these stupid Prisma Color Markers my art teacher was obsessed with. Took forever to fill-in the tiniest space.
