Nerdy stand-up

Hey guys, y'all should watch this:

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2038179463

Can you see me fulfilling my dream of having Gabe and Tycho fly me out to do a set at PAX? That would be so awesome! I hope you agree.

Sorry if this is incredibly lame and I should have posted in another forum! Whee! I just loves me the Penny Arcade and the nerdery.

Yeah, that was great. I was thinking that stand-up was one thing that could be added to PAX.

I think you'd need new material, though. That was funny but it was definitely geared to non-geeks. You could push it a lot farther, or at least in different directions, without having to say "Who's heard of World of Warcraft?" and stuff like that. Think of it as the difference between Foxtrot and Penny Arcade or XKCD.

Oh man buddy, you have no idea. That's the whole reason I want to do PAX! Ten times the material. I'm well aware!

Sadly, that is my true weakness. I like to say fuck'n. I promise I've done all ages shows though, were the swearing itself an issue. ;-)

I enjoyed some of your bits, particularly the Super Mario Bros. 2 one, but a lot of your jokes really go on for far too long. I'm watching your Jurassic Park material again and your funniest line was a minute ago, but you're still talking about the same thing! Bust out the scissors and chop that sucker down.

And just a note: you use the word "premises" when you're talking about the plot of Battlestar Galactica. Premises refers to property. The word you're looking for is "premise."

Wow, that was awesome! If you can't do a set at PAX, you should at least come to Sealab and hang out with the rest of the cool kids.

    FAIL

He was talking about two shows. What's the plural of "premise" now?

You can probably do an act unofficially at the line before PAX opens. Enforcers probably won't mind that much unless you are blocking the way.

I didn't hear the mention of Lost, but he says "it's like the best premises," which is still incorrect and hence my confusion.

Thanks for the large, obnoxious letters though.

It's an incomplete sentence. I'm musing that "It's like the best premises..." and there is an implied "on television" at the end of the sentence, because I'm talking about the general state of television and not any one show yet. You had me scared for a second, I thought in your first post that you meant the plural for premise was premise like "moose" or something, and I nearly looked it up. I am indeed using the plural, I have a Liberal Arts degree and know the difference between situational logic and real estate. Holy shit, I guess I can't forget there will be PA readers who take Mr. Period really seriously. Surprise- it's not 100% scripted. Man... hilarious.

I also said "archeologicalicic", you forgot to call me out on that one.

    Thanks for watching it regardless!

It's standup comedy, not a grammar bee.

If anything, people relate to the whole "can't find the right word mid-rant," thing and find it funny.

Awesome! I love how you just get up and run with the nerdiest of premises.

If Gabe and Tycho don't fund your plane trip, I'll throw in $20 and buy you free drinks at the hotel bar.

You still have to do your standup, though. :)

For sure man, but I intend to aim for next year!

I have enough respect for the planning that goes into PAX that I don't expect they could literally schedule me in and fly me in now. It's too late, I'm sure!

Oh good lord, how I want to. My 360 got the red ring of death a couple weeks ago and I'm still waiting for Microsoft to ship me the box to return it in... I'm in such insane withdrawl right now, I would love to prance about in a nerd's paradise. WILL PEOPLE BE ABLE TO PLAY BLUE DRAGON AT PAX?!?! Erf. If Mr. Budget says it's possible, trust me, I will magically appear.

Oh, and just to make a little more glue from this dead horse... I agree with everyone that grammar policing isn't needed for stuff like this... but, just as a point, Thello was right. Have fun with that. :D

The full version? I suppose somebody might know, but I say its a 50/50 chance, and we won't probably publically know until the conference. I don't think Square has a booth, but it could definitely show up in Microsoft's, since it is a big game there.

But now that I think about it, doesn't Blue Dragon ship to retail BEFORE PAX? I think it does, which makes me think there is probably little chance it will be there, since everyone will pwn it already :)

I know you don't have your Xbox right now, but there is a pretty lengthy demo available of the game up on Live since E3 week. You may wanna try to hit up a friend's house and play that bitch.

Edit: Saw the video, and I really liked it. The only nit-picky thing is that the pink thing that spits it's children in Super Mario 2 is "Birdo" not "Bird". Fun video though!

Hahaha... I know her NAME is Birdo! But, it's still "a bird with its vagina in its face". The little jumpy guy isn't literally named "the scary masked kid from Twin Peaks" but I still call him that like that's what he actually is. It's a nerd joke translated for the masses, y'all!

Dude I watched your routine and loved it. Really funny, best part was the dinosaur part in my opinion. I write anything I find funny down because I think I might want to be a stand up comedian when I finish High school but I don't know if I'm cut out for it. You think I could bounce some ideas off you (If that sentence even makes sense...) sometime about what you think is funny? I'm sure your probably really busy and all so I understand if you just ignore this. Anyway great stuff.
