auto end tagging - minor thing

Are tags supposed to be auto-inserted into posts when you've used the button to place the first end of it

[ img ]

but dont use the button to close it?

As it happens in firefox, selecting text can wack out sometimes, and can result in the start tag being inserted at the end of your selection instead of around both the selected text.

Blah blah blah [ img ]

instead of

[ img ]Blah blah blah [ /img ]

Once you delete the erroneous tag insertion and get the selected text tagged properly, if you dont used the button to insert an end tag anyways, one will be placed in your post when you hit submit, and you'll have to go edit it out.

[ img ]Blah blah blah [ /img ][ /img ]

Is it supposed to work like this? I've seen it happening to other people too.
The auto-ending tag feature doesnt seem to work as well as intended.

BUT anyways... I'm guessing this is something that would be taken care of with php 3.0?[/img]

    The 5 second summary.
    1. For reasons that I've never bother investigating, the selection sourronding function of the buttons does not work outside of IE.
    2. Consequently, clicking the button with a selection in firefox behaves the same as clicking without a selection in IE. that is, it inserts the tag at the end.
    3. Any unmatched button clicks are closed when the post is submitted, hence the extra image tag, it does not do anything smart like parse the post to check for unmatched tags.
    4. You see the funny results you are reporting, it is a general phpBB problem.
    5. Type your bbCode like a real man.

I actually know what you're talking about, and it's happened to me. However, it's been a problem maybe three times in five odd years of posting, so I don't think it's worth the time it would take to fix it.
