WOW...does anyone have a towel I can have? I think I need to clean up...and a smoke. My only question is how long do I have to wait before I shut myself off from the world again and give up sleeping and eating for the sake of these.

It would appear there ain't no rest for the wicked...who knew?
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyerrrrrrr... wait. For the US, or just for Japan? Because I remember that PS remake of IV or V never came out in the U.S.
I want my Dragon Quest.
Well, I think Rocket Slime and DQVIII did ok. Not super-fantastic maybe, but enough so that they're bringing spinoffs like Swords... and DQ Monsters: Joker. If those can make it it seems like a no-brainer that the main-game remakes should roll in too.
I hope.
edit: I really really liked DQVIII, 1st one I played. I still haven't beaten it though. Beats slogging through another Final Fantasy.

This is likely just an announcement for Japan, but I'd imagine we're going to get them at some point. The series sells best in Japan, but is still pretty popular in other territories. Not quite as much as FF, but we still get the games. And considering how popular the DS is everywhere, and how Square has been releasing almost all their DS games worldwide, I'd say it's basically a given.
III was fun. 7 and 8 were awful awful awful. 4, 5 and 6 never came here, did they?
I believe 4 did, and I loved 7. I had fun with 8 too.
Maybe I'm thinking of 4. I liked the one where you played 3 different characters that all met up in the end. One was a goofy merchant guy.
What you just described was 4.
I still love 7, it was the nostalgia I got from it probably. I remembered being little and hiding from my family in the basement while playing all those old RPGs, it made me happy.
Here's an unbeatable strategy for both games: attack, heal when needed. Ignore all other abilities. Repeat ad nauseum until you puke to death.
You realize you just gave away the strategy for 99% of the JRPG's... no RPG's ever made right? (yes I realize how powerful status effects are in Paper/Scissor/Rock of the Persona/DDS Series)
Echoing the desires that we get them translated over here finally. VI especially. That has, hands down, the best implementation of the classic "super secret boss that's more powerful than anything, including the end boss villian (RPG cliche #190)" mechanic.
You beat up the secret boss. And basically this conversation takes place:
Boss: I am finally beaten.
Hero: Hey... can you do something for us? Wanna kick the shit out of this guy who's gonna destroy the world?
Boss: ...cool.
And then he proceeds to kick the shit out of the end boss for you.

wait a sec... I'm not going to be excited unless it's anounced for US.
I really, really like III, personally. Do IV, V, or VI measure up?
Also this is sweet because I've never played a Dragon Quest game before.
I'd think these are virtually guaranteed to see US releases.
But you must! Go get Dragon Warrior III for GBC and Dragon Quest VIII for PS2.
I require it.
These better come to America or I will have to hurt someone.
Are you here to kill Sarah Conner?

I want them now, in English. NOW!
These are the Super Famicom ones, huh?
I want my Dragon Quest.
Wasn't it remade for the SNES, though? And if so, that would probably be the version we get here.
Edit: Nevermind, it was a PS1 remake.
I hope.

We never got the Mother GBA remakes, so I worry about getting these.
I played 7 for almost... well a good long time. It was hideously boring.
8 has some of the best presentation for some of the crappiest, most boring gameplay I've ever seen.

We're talking about Square-Enix here, you know. They don't know how to not re-release all their hot properties as widely as possible.

Only if you grinded so much that all difficulty was removed.
I suspect you did that.
Because that's most peoples reaction to any difficulty in an RPG. GRIND!
Rather then intellegently use buffs and debuffs and supporting abilities.
What you just described was 4.

I laughed. SO HARD!
(Please note Darlan: It's VIII you're speaking of.)
EDIT: You've already found that out. My apologies.

Do those shots look 2D to anyone else?
All JRPGs work like that. It is just self-deception to try more complex strategies. :P

Too many games too little time.
I really can't tell, if I stare at them I just switch back and forth between being sure it's 2D then being sure it's 3D.
Maybe the mere sight of the numbers VII/VIII brings back horrifying Final Fantasy flashbacks...
