Hey guys, Ive been thinking of a game that I used to play as a kid but I can't remember the name of it anymore.

It was an arcade game that eventually came to consoles I think. It was sort of an RPG where you chose a class and just spammed projectiles and enemies who spawned really fast as well.

There were also chests with special loot and Death woulld pop on screen sometimes and if you didnt kill him before he got to you you lose some life or something.

I also remember when you leveled up you character looked bigger and burlier with increased levels. Also, I believe there was some sort of naked cheat for the arcade version.

Anyone know which game Im talking about?

I got a one the other day that made my friend go o_o.
He was like," I used to play this game for PS2 where you run around fighting people."
    "The Bouncer?"
"What the FUCK man! That's it!"
I was alittle amused I got it first guess...

    Alright, I got one.

It was an Amiga game. POSSIBLY made by Sega. POSSIBLY published by U.S. Gold. I'm not sure about either of those, but they sort of ring a bell.

Now, it was a top-down game, and you controlled... ducks, I think. I seem to remember the intro having a cornfield, and the heroes were encased in bubbles for some reason and flew up to the sky. The characters possibly made huge anime eyes whenever they got hit. The first level was set in a city, and the first boss was a gigantic flame with eyes.

That's about all I can recall right now.

From the bits about character apearance changing, I think the Gauntlet game he's looking for is Legends or Dark Legacy.

I've got a fairly vague one. I remember playing this game back in 95 or early 96 when my best friend got his shiny new Windows 95 Packard Bell... WOOO! ;) I believe it came bundled with the system so it may have been a demo or shareware though I was under the impression at the time that it was a full game. Anyway, it was a fairly traditional point and click adventure game from what I remember, though I do think it may have been Windows native which certainly made it unique to me at the time. You were in a futuristic, possibly cyberpunky setting. The only parts of the game I remember were that you started off in a sleek, above ground apartment, probably your own, but quickly went down into a mine shaft and tooled around down there. I remember talking to some miners and there possibly being a murder mystery involved.

I have a REALLY hard one too.

Early PC game - probably late 80s or early, early 90s. Primitive graphics. I remember that the main screen of a game was basically a hex map. The setting might have been the fertile crescent or some fictional land like that. Your job was to take a very new tribe and grow their Civilization. You could plant, farm, and fight.

I remember playing it at my friend's house one day. He had just gotten a new PC (with awesome EGA graphics). His dad had gotten a copy of the game from a friend at work. The only other thing I remember is that it had an instruction book with it and I think the name of the game might have started with the letter "I." It was hard as hell or at least hard for 2 5th graders to figure out.

It's not Civilization. I have a feeling this game was released way before then. I know other games we were playing at the time were Police Quest (original version) and Space Quest.

This almost sounds like a game called Incunabula. It was released in 1986 or 87 which would be around the time you're talking about. I remember very little about it except that if you weren't super good at doing a lot of math on the fly it was really difficult to win. I remember playing it quite a bit before I got into whatever the latest Ultima game was at the time.

Ah, i remember that game, good stuff. Along those lines, I've been trying to think of a game I played back then, was MS-DOS game and was kind of a puzzle game. You portrayed a Indiana Jones type of guy and had to try to figure you way thru the level, which was only one screen, no scrolling. I can see it in my head still, but have no clue about the name.

Alright, if you guys can figure this out....wow.

Older game, working on Windows 3.1 or DoS here, May have been called "Homeworld" (Of no relation to current franchise).

The interface looks like a modern flash thing, where you'd point and click to pan the camera, move around, etc, in a "First Person" view, though I don't think the game had any guns. It started you off in your apartment, and your world was being attacked or invaded or something. You had to gather some things from your apartment and get the crap out. I could never get further than the hallway before I got caught and the game ended.

    So, ideas?

I don't remember the game in particular, but I don't think it's BASS. In BASS, you start out in an upper part of a busted up old factory, rather than a nice apartment. It is futuristic, though, and if anyone can figure out what game he is talking about, I want to play it! I'm thinking it's not one of the Scumm games, though.

Looking those up on Moby, I'm intrigued. I love me some good ol' point-and-click. It's possible that he could have meant Martian Memorandum (some of the screenshots look like fancy apartments and mines), but you're right that it seems unlikely considering it came out in 1991.

Despite being an avid adventure gamer I've not played any of the Tex Murphy games yet so its certainly possibly but like I said, I distinctly remember it running in Windows 95 natively. At the time I was still running DOS and 3.11 so I was impressed to see a good looking game running in Windows.

Oh, I have played through some of BASS (though I haven't ever completed it for some unknown reason) and am fairly certain it isn't the mystery game.

If you like the old school point and click adventure games you should give a look to Noctropolis. It came out in 1994 and it was my favorite game for a long time despite some of the puzzles where you had to hunt for the exact right pixel to click on.

ROTD was a DOS game too. It did have a very non-linear story and was kinda cyberpunkish but I don't remember any miners in it either (but then maybe I just didn't choose that path).

Hmph, I fear I simply might not know enough about the game to figure it out. After all from the early to mid 90s there was an absolutely insane amount of adventure games released and since this one apparently came with his PC I'd guess it wasn't a popular one either.

    LoL Tribunal:
"Was cursing, in broken english at his team, and at our team. made fun of dead family members and mentioned he had sex with a dog."
"Hope he dies tbh but a ban would do."

Lode Runner, maybe? I don't remember if it scrolled or not, but you ran around collecting gold and digging and stuff.

I've been trying to think of a game I played back then, was MS-DOS game and was kind of a puzzle game. You portrayed a Indiana Jones type of guy and had to try to figure you way thru the level, which was only one screen, no scrolling. I can see it in my head still, but have no clue about the name.
