even if this is true, which it isn't, its still their fault for not screening him out during the application process anyways

From what I remember being told when I was back in the Army, military service in Korea is compulsory, but I could be very wrong.

    You're not wrong.

I think the whole still technically at war thing might be the reason...

    Just watched the video.

.. She hardly bolted. She merely walked away, and didn't get riled up by anyone; handled it pretty well considering, I think.

    she's an idiot.

oh noes DEFCON found out about me even though I declined press pass 4 times. woe is me :(

I love hearing stories of this nature because it's kinda like a sense of justice. Something you can just go "HA!" at the person for and feel perfectly fine about it.

You know, I think it's a damned shame that so many reporting agencies have gone from covering real news, to irrelevant news, to trying to fabricate shock stories for ratings. I really hope Dateline, or, better yet, this reporter is forced to apologize for acting like a dick on television for this. I mean hell, in some ways this is worse then the 4chan "domestic terrorists" broadcast that Fox did. At least that was pretty self-satirical what with the dancing hiltler gif and random shots of exploding vans.

It's a huge convention at that. They've had events to see how far they can physically extend a wireless network range, and often a contest of hackerdom to see who can bring down a set up webserver the fastest and cleanest (the server is something the con sets up just for the event). It's also where the Government finds a lot of their White Hats.

Of course, if you should ever find yourself going to Defcon, NEVER use any of the ATMs within a 5 mile radius of the convention center.

I figure they are going to take what footage they got and turn it into a shock piece. She'll probably be going on and on about how she was scared for her life after the crowd suggested to tar and feather her, and how an angry mob chased her to her car and she barely escaped!

I'm waiting for Dateline to air it with some spin on how she felt so threatened by this underground convention of degenerates that she had to run for her life while being followed and verbally abused.

Maybe with some footage of exploding vans and 4chan memes spliced in, if they can get FOX LA's approval.

This is more along the lines of what I fear, and sadly expect, will happen. And they've got plenty of material for doing it too. The crowd was jeering her pretty hard as she left the building. Now it isn't that she didn't deserve it, its just that 'bitch had it coming' doesn't hold up as well as it should in the court of public opinion. Especially when the other side is poorly understood and easily monsterized. Who knows though, maybe they'll finally catch some flack over their 'journalistic' tactics. These are the same asshats that do the "To catch a predator" sequence, right?
Hopefully this doesn't change the way they do DEFCON admissions though. It would be a real shame if it did, as I hear that the speakers they get are on par with any ACM or IEEE topics conference, and its just a fraction of the price to get in, everybody wins.

Why would she turn down the press pass? Why? I really don't understand.

They recently had Chris Hansen do something about iPod thefts where they would leave iPods sitting out in the open and then track down the people that took them after they hooked it up to a computer.
    ??
I really don't see anything wrong with that.

The defcon story is awesome though.

The thing about this was that only a few of them were actual thefts, where their marked iPods were sitting in cars and the such. The rest were abandoned in public places in various cities, so it seemed more of a way to try and make people into inhuman monsters.
Yeah that's really fucking shitty. I mean to purposely leave iPods abandoned in public places like on park benches and use them as bear traps to tag whoever happens to walk by and notice it sitting there as some kind of criminal is terrible.

No, he said they're doing the same thing. So, apparently, they're leaving children out in public, and normal, non-fucked up people pick them up, because hey a free kid that someone just left there, who'd turn that down? And then the news turns them into inhuman monsters! All because they had the perfectly normal impulse to fuck a 12 year old. That horrible sensationalist news, demonizing those people!

I really do think they're doing more to trap them than they're letting on when they mention the chat logs. Considering how the amount of guys showing up and how eager they are, their traps have to be making first contact in the chatroom.

If you saw their special report on Maple Story, you'd know that their's nothing satirical about their broadcasts.

This terrorist training game teaches people as young as 8 years old how to hurt helpless mushrooms, snails, and dogs! You can see how the senseless, repetitive killing, with little or no break for any other activity, is clearly gleaning these children into hardened terrorists who are eager to serve their Korean overlords!
