Now that PAX isn't on the east side, this might work better than last year.
Those of your arriving early for PAX and need a drink or three on Thursday night, come join up over at Shorty's in Belltown/Downtown. The dogs are hot, the booze is strong and the games are classic. It's one of my favorite spots in Seattle.
I'll be wearing my I <GODZILLA> TOKYO shirt that I bought at PAX last year, so if you see me, come on over and say hi. If I'm drunk enough I might even buy you a drink!
btw they don't take credit cards so bring cash or use the ATM there.
Those of you interested in bar hopping, it's a good place to start since there are several other places nearby like the grunge-famous Crocodile Cafe. (hint: you don't have to pay a cover if you just want to drink in the back bar)
Listen. And understand. That Misterioso is out there. He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead..drunk.
Here is a visual for ya. Glad to hear I got some takers on this!

I'm definitely interested...will have to see how the gf feels after the pre-pax dinner My hotel that night is a ways away though, so no drinky for me...alas.

It would only be about a 20min walk to the pax hotels...

Yah, but I only booked Friday/Saturday at the Days Inn Downtown. Thursday night we're staying at some Econo Lodge which is a 20 min drive from the convention centre Didn't think I was going to be coming down on the Thursday when I first booked and it was full when I tried to add the extra day to my original booking.
I do love me some pinball. And who can say no to a chili cheese dog? What time will we be meeting up?

Drinks after the dinner sounds fantastic... and if Gameworks is too much for me I'll see poeple down at Shorty's.
Shorty's is a great place and I'd also highly recommend the 5 Point Cafe. Great no bullshit atmosphere, the atmosphere is almost divish but they've got a great jukebox, stiff drinks at reasonable prices, and pretty good comfort food (chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, meatloaf, etc.)
I'll probably get there myself after work around 7ish. I think they open their cool new lounge in the back at 8 or 9 and I'll try to grab some seats. Feel free to send me a PM or IM if you want my contact info.
FYI - just to make sure everybody knows, this is a bar, so 21 and over only.

What about hills though?
If it's uphill going back to the hotels that will pose an interesting (i'm sure: hilarious) challenge. O_o

As compared to walking up to Capitol Hill, this is a stroll... all very gradual grades. Walking back to the hotel should be enough of a challenge if you partake of enough in the libations Shorty's has to offer anyway.

UPDATE - Shorty's has a pretty weak happy hour but you can nab $1.75 bottles of PBR and Rainer until 8pm. I think they have $1 PBR drafts until 4pm as well.
No food discounts but that is already pretty cheap.
They have a full bar and maybe a half dozen beers on tap, PBR, Guinness, Mannys and Rogers Pilsner for sure (last two are good local brews) and the Trophy Room lounge in the back opens at 8pm so be sure to go back there and take a look.
It's no Gameworks but if you are looking for a unique spot where the locals actually go to drink and play some pball, def check it out. it's a cool place.

excellent call, sir! We have some friends doing the same thing.
LAST UPDATE: ya'll that plan on getting wrecked tonight, inquire about the Shorty's patented "hangover breakfast" on Friday. (although they don't open until noon) it's a kick in the stomach.
SEE YOU TONIGHT AND DON'T FORGET TO SAY HI.

I'll be there & square, either in a blue "don't worry be happy" shirt or a Jager shirt. Something just seems wrong about wearing apparel bearing the name of what you are drinking.
Well we'll be pulling into the hotel at maybe 7 or 8 so we'll try and swing by, look for a black dude surrounded by 2 white guys and that moron that won the first omegathon
Damn I'm sorry I missed it. We stopped by our hotel room to take a break and we both fell asleep until 7am this morning. Damn jet lag. Anything else planned?
oh god why did I say I would work a half day.....I'm zonked after that.

One last post, unless I'm dead, in prison or out of the country, I'll be back again next year.

Shorty's was definitely a good time. It wasn't my original plan to go there, but I decided to go instead of the nerdcore concert due to distance. Damn you and your jagger shots tho. I woke up with a nasty headache.
Everyone I met at shorty's was great. I'd be happy to see any of you next year. I avoided the shots and am quite happy for that.
I do feel inadequate at Tetris, after seeing some great tetris players, and have a great desire to pick up a DS before the next PAX. I just felt like I missed out on so many gaming opportunities.

They seem to give out some pretty hefty shots.
I don't know what that means, but I'll be at the dinner at P.F. Chang's at that time interval...

I may stop in here after work, before I go to Chop Suey. Shorty's is definitely kick ass.
