So has there been any more info on this coming to the US? I can't find anything on it but then Mr. Firewall doesn't like me actually GOING to game sites.
we didn't get Guilty Gear Petit or Petit 2 for lack of a Wonderswan in the states. And we didn't get Guilty Gear X2 Plus, on the PS2; just Guilty Gear X2, but I don't know the differences. I can't remember if anyone brought the PC version of #R to the states, but you could easily import it. *not 100% sure we got GG1 on PS1 over here, but I think we did.
Seriously though, I'm just bitter. I admit this. I love the Guilty Gear series and this thing just simply isn't a part of it to me.
There is, however, hope for us GG fighting fans. Arc System Works announced their successor to the GG series in (I believe) the last issue of Famitsu. The game takes place in the same universe ten years after the end of XX. It's called BlazBlue and here are some scans:

I always respected GG for its plot over the fighting game itself. Dont get me wrong, its still the greatest 2d fighter ever period to me, with so much detail to everything. However I was a huge sucker for its plot.
Dear god all that shit explained about this game is atrocious. I hope they pull what the tales studio did, and somehow call this a "fake" game and forget it ever happened. If this is how they truely continue the plot then I give up on what I thought was one of the best fighting game plotlines ever.
I love Arc, for bringing us the Guilty Gear 2D fighting games.. but it seems like the times they've stepped outside of 2D fighting and tried other things, it has been to sadly awful results.
oh well, BlazBlue linked to up there by Fig-D looks extremely promising. Thanks for the scans, Fig! :^:

Between this and Sengoku BASARA X it looks like it could be a very good time to be a fan of fighting games.
Actually, I believe it was discovered in the end that BlazBlue does not take place in the GG universe but it is intended to be the successor to GGXX in the 2D fighting arena so yeah, for future GG we're stuck with weird 3D stuff.
Another thing is that a lot of the plot stuff in GG2 does actually line up with things that were only introduced in the X games so it should probably be considered less of a case of "that stuff isn't canon" and more a case of "that stuff isn't canon until a future game references it" which makes sense given the number of contradictory scenarios in those games.

Really? Well shit, I'm just gonna pretend it does then, okay? It'll be a part of my happy place...

BlazBlue looks pretty awesome. I like the character designs.
t Airan - They removed it, then. I registered a Japanese account a while back specifically for it. It's pretty fun in a mindless sort of way, and I'd totally buy it if I had a 360/lived in Japan.
Turns out Guilty Gear 2: Overture was considered good enough to get a US release, and is currently scheduled to ship later this month. Supposedly for the American release there have been "small changes to the game that improve its overall play style".
I don't know what to think about this game, it looks like a combination of UT2004 assault game type and Dynasty Warriors, which is a big change from a 2d fighting game.
as Page- said, ill probably rent it before I go out and drop $60 for a game that could quite possibly suck.
Looks like the story is finally moving forward for the first time since GGX2. I wont buy this, but I do want to find out what all the fuss over "That Person" is.
According to the creator of the game, this is less like Dynasty warriors and more like DOTA, which means until the end of the mission when you've leveled dramatically, you don't simply cut through swaths of hundreds of faceless soldiers.
It means its more about strategically influencing pushes of various key locations where you have you contest with the enemy heroes attempting the same.
Which makes it awesome and an automatic purchase in my book.

Actually there was a 'Guilty Gear Accent Plus' released in Japan. Its story mode starts where XX left off and as far as I know is the most up to date version of the Guilty Gear Universe that makes sense (Seriously whats up with Overture? Are they just pretending the last several games never happened?).
It also has a truckload if pretty pictures added into the gallery.

Why? Every other iteration of Guilty Gear has made it over here, to my knowledge.
We've had Guilty Gear*, Guilty Gear X, X2, X2 #R, Slash, Accent Core, Guilty Gear Judgment, Guilty Gear Dust Strikers, Guilty Gear Isuka, Guilty Gear Advance...

I was browsing the XBL JP marketplace a couple of weeks ago and saw no GG2:O demo. Maybe I need to check again.
Would've been nice if they included every character as playable unlockables, but I guess that's asking a bit much
Rrgarding BlueBlaz, after seeing GG's character designs these look generic by comparison :V:

Hey no problem. Fig-D : sifting through shoryuken.com's forums so no one else has to.

Anyone here thinking of giving it a chance?
