The game has been sold to several people before the street date, so spoilers ARE out there. Avoid Youtube, the SA forums, NeoGAF forums (maybe?), and 4chan at all costs, if you wanna stay completely story-free until you can play the game yourself!
The new Bungie.net is up, and Luke Smith had some interesting things to say about the days to come:
Daily Content on Bnet between now and launch include Matchmaking Playlist reveals (maybe Tyson will write something on them, I gotta ask him tomorrow), Networking, Saved Films, Guide and Tour of Bungie.net, more Forge, First Ever Halo 3 Humpday on brand new Forged Gametypes with films of Rocket Race, new 2 hour podcast with Joe Staten, Marty O'Donnell and Chris Gossett talking about the new Bnet, the next Blomkamp and finally, a long awaited pre-launch surprise.
Four player co-op confirmed! Fuck yeah!

The story thus far:
The remains of Covenant have reached Earth, excavating a huge Forerunner artifact known as the "Ark". SPARTAN-117, the Master Chief, joined by his ol' pal the Arbiter, Sergeant Avery J. Johnson and Commander Miranda Keyes, has to race through the city of Voi, to the Ark itself, to try to stop the High Prophet of Truth from activating the six remaining Halo installations and killing every sentient being in the galaxy. Not to mention the parasitic leader of the Flood, the Gravemind, has the artificial intelligence Cortana within his clutches, and is using her to find out the answers to every question he may have about the humans, the Covenant, and the Halo installations themselves.

Forge, in-game content editor!
Basics.Object Editing.Advanced Options.- Forge cannot create or modify geometry.
- Forge cannot create or modify textures.
- Forge cannot move major objects, like bases.
- Forge does not work in Single Player.
So what does Forge do? The details are sketchy and scattered across the internet (Bungie, IGN, Screen Play, etc) and game publications (EGM). While there remains a lot of questions, we do know the following:
- Forge allows users to add, remove, and modify weapons, equipment, objects, vehicles, spawn points, teleporters, tools, and other items found in Halo 3 while playing in the Forge mode as an editor (or "monitor" as Bungie is calling them). Modification are accomplished in real-time while navigating the map in monitor mode.
- Forge controls, as a monitor, are fairly straight forward:
+ Tapping the D-Pad instantly switches the user from monitor mode to a player (Spartan). As a monitor you are a small sphere.
+ The Right Stick is used to lock and rotate selected items; the Left Stick is used to move and rotate selected items.
+ The Left Trigger is your thrusters; the Right Trigger rotates the selected item when held down.
+ The Left Bumper moves the user down; the Right Bumper moves the user up.
+ The Y Button deletes an item; the B Button drops items when held down; the A Button picks up/drops items.
+ Pressing the X Button activates the 'Item Properties List' where the user can alter object settings (like respawn rate and whether it appears at the start of a match) as well as modify game settings (symmetric or asymmetric game, single or multi-flag CTF, etc.)
- Forge modes works with the multiplayer maps and all the available multiplayer modes. Thus Forge modifications can be played with rules like Slayer, Team Slayer, Virus, etc.
- Forge is a multiplayer game and object editor -- simultaneously. 8 players can be in Forge via splitscreen, system link, and/or Live. After modifying a map monitors can instantly "pop" into the game (by tapping the D-Pad), test out changes, and change right back to monitor mode to make more changes. All users can be making changes and/or be playing the map simultaneously.
- Forge allows users to permit all players to be monitors or to restrict monitor status to the party leader. It is unknown if Forge can be filtered to allow a specific number of monitors on each side (e.g. one monitor per side), and if so if Forge forces a symmetric number of monitors on each side.
- Monitors cannot attack other players and are vulnerable, although they can drop objects on players. A filter is available to make monitors invincible.
- Monitors can delete objects placed by other monitors; you cannot delete a vehicle a person is using, although you can grab it and move it, and the player, around the map. It is unknown if Forge can restrict monitors from opposing teams from modifying and moving the opposing teams objects.
- Users can modify weapons by altering their respawn timer, ammo count, and other minor tweaks.
- Each map has an "asset budget" in Forge due to performance and online limitations; a gun may cost 2 points, a vehicle 40 points, etc. The currency limit on each map is shared between both teams. It is unknown if individual limits, lower than the global limits, can be prescribed to each team.
- Each map has a different asset budget, but user may place most objects on most maps. The Elephant is only available on Sandtrap.
- Forge allows users to modify gravity, scoring for every action, rules for status changes of the leader, and a variety of victory conditions. Bungie would consider adding rule varieties that people enjoy to the global matchmaking lists (Forge, by default, is not included in matchmaking).
- Users can create custom power-ups. Variables like damage inflicted, gravity, speed, health regeneration, shield effects, power-up duration, and so forth. Variables can be mixed and matched at will to create your favorite combo.
- Forge maps can be shared via Live with other players. A voting system will allow favorite content to be more visible, even added to Bungie's, "Recommended Content" page and possibly included into multiplayer matchmaking.
- Forge games can be recorded and viewed with the Halo 3 film tools.

Halo ActionClix:
Halo ActionClix Fact Sheet:
Genre: Collectible Miniatures Game (CMG)
Release Date: September 12, 2007
Producer: WizKids
Age: 12-years-old and up
Players: 2 + players
Overview:
The Halo ActionClix collectable miniatures game (CMG) brings the incredible content of the Halo universe to players’ tabletops via the award-winning Clix miniatures game engine. Players are able to replicate the exciting multiplayer action from all three Halo games using high-quality pre-painted, plastic miniatures of Halo characters and vehicles. WizKids’ Halo ActionClix is accessible to all levels of players and allows them to jump right into the action and enjoy Halo game mechanics, including weapon swaps, figure re-spawning and vehicle-based combat. The game also shares the same basic game mechanics as the other Clix games so players will be able to play Halo ActionClix with other Clix products.
With its easy-to-learn gameplay mechanics and low-cost booster packs, two players or more can immediately start playing. The first Halo ActionClix set will feature more than 80 unique miniature figures from the Halo universe, including preview content from Halo 3. There are two main booster pack varieties – a $10 pack (4 game figures, 4 stat cards, 2 die and 1 start-up map) and an $11 pack ( 5-figure blind pack with 5 figures, 5 stat cards, 2 dice and 2 start-up map). An average game of Halo ActionClix should take 2 players around 45 minutes.
Gameplay:
Halo ActionClix combines the core Clix game mechanics of the combat dial and combat resolution system with popular Halo game features. Halo’s respawning and weapon-swapping features makes for faster and longer gameplay. In addition, with the new character upgrade features players can use most of their collection in battles.
The gameplay replicates the multiplayer aspect of the Halo game as players field teams in battles of Halo’s USNC, Covenant or mixed teams. Battles ensue after players place their pieces in position. Each game piece has a unique combat dial that lists their constantly evolving stats, and a character card that list specific abilities of that piece. Using different “move and shoot” capabilities, as well as blocking terrain (walls and debris), players move their pieces – vying for the best shot to take down their opponent’s pieces. If a player can successfully control one of their opponent’s spawn points, they prevent them from bringing new pieces in at that point and receive rewards for doing so. Each time a player eliminates an opponent’s piece, they receive a kill token. The first player to collect five kill tokens is the winner.
The Halo ActionClix Collectible Universe:
- Launching in September, Halo ActionClix Series One will have almost 100 pieces, including the Hunter Combat Pack, the Warthog Pack and the Banshee Pack. Packs include exclusive Halo 3 preview content.
- Launching in 2008, Halo ActionClix Series Two will feature a majority of content from the Halo 3 video game.
- Exclusive figures, such as unique Master Chief and giant-size Hunter figures, are available through various products and promotions.
- The game features 18 different Master Chief sculptures with various weapons and poses.

No idea why I'm whoring this up.
Halo 3 AND the Dethalbum drop on the SAME DAY?
Holy shit, the world WILL end!
Also, to be less spammy, what new weaponry is there? And did they bring back the classic assault rifle, or is it still "shitty SMG no one uses" and "shitty battle rifle even less people use"?
SMG = Pimp
Battle Rifle = Still used but not as much thanks to the AR as the new spawn weapon.
After playing the Halo 3 Beta and CoD4 beta I find the CoD4 online portion of the game superior to Halo 3. Not just a little either, when you see that Cobra spinning out of control with it's engine whining then you see it crash, that is amazing.
I didn't see anything in Halo 3's beta that made me feel like that. Is the Halo 3 Multiplayer game going to be good enough to stand up against CoD4?
ITT: Tumbler 360 ignores the existance of Forge. Which I forgot to put in the OP. WIP, people!
because the BR is functional, the AR is awesome. Honestly, i hated the BR, and i was never a pistol whore from Halo CE, i used the AR because it felt like a space gun should feel. Hefty and dangerous.
edit: and yes, Halo 3's multi is going to rock faces. I really don't care for multiplayer in just about any game, but after reading what's going to be in Halo 3, i'm hyped. Not just Forge, but the ability to share gametypes and created levels as easy as it will be? Nuts.
PSN: JPBrowncoat Xbox: BamSaidTheLaday Also on Steam! Streaming games!
This didn't stop me from preordering Halo 3 again.
Halo 2 had good multi because of the ease of Xbox Live.
I have never been a fan of Halo's multiplayer but I just come for the story anyways and the toys.
4 Marines
2 Aliens
2 Predators
It doesn't necessary have to be the exact number, it can be 2 Marines vs 6 Xenomorphs/Aliens or whatever. I just want to make sure its fun. Marines are armed to the teeth with assault rifles, chain guns, flamethrowers, grenades and pistols. Marines will have to barricade themselves in protecting themselves from both foes. Ain't no Predator-Human alliance here, this AvP free for all.. I'm also trying to keep in vein with the weaponry but this is Forge so anything is possible. Aliens will have agility power up, radar jammers and energy swords. Predators have active camo, a Spartan Laser, Brute Spiker and Brute Shots.
Still a [WIP]
Guess which giant corporation wants 100 bucks to fix their damn console?
Guess who's gonna have to 'borrow' his cousin's 360?
tell me you canceled them and got your 5$ back.
SMG sucked as a spawn weapon in Halo 2. The Assault rifle in Halo 3 has a smaller clip, slower fire rate but more damage per round and better accuracy. On certain maps in Halo 2 by default if you control the Battle Rifles you pretty much have an advantage due to another blunder in Halo 2, the weapon spawn system. The AR was seen as a weapon that offered the best of both worlds for offense but not overly powerful.
Did I miss something in the beta? Could you configure your spartan's weapons with different sights and assign perks or abilities of some sort? I liked being able to pick the colors and make him look cool but the stuff you could do in CoD4 seemed a lot more interesting to play with.
I forgot about the saving video thing, that is going to be a lot of fun.
Looking forward to both again! Both games are going to rule I'm sure.
Clearly you haven't seen the wealth of customization that is present in the multiplayer. The beta was just a taste and doesn't have the wealth of options the full game will have.
Anything I missed? PM me. I'll fix or rearrange things later.
Well, we found our way there like forty minutes later and parked. While we were walking I noticed a yellow Ford Focus in the stall one over from us and it turned out to be the same fucking car with the same fucking sticker of The Cheat. I didn't letthem live that one down for days.
That Halo 360 looks ugly as sin but I bet the faceplate would look good on my Elite. I kind of wish I could buy that green controller on it's own, I think it looks pretty cool.

Like what? Are there any details of what the options in the full game will include? A link perhaps?
PSN: JPBrowncoat Xbox: BamSaidTheLaday Also on Steam! Streaming games!
that, and the AR is just miles cooler than the BR and SMG.
....Forge?
Forgive me I haven't been following Halo 3's features closely, what is Forge?
Forge is basically a multiplayer level editor. You can't change geometry, but you can pretty-much do anything with anything else on the level. With up to 7 other people joining in, playing along, swapping between monitors (for editing) or players (for dicking around) as you want. Then you can save your awesome level/gametype, upload it to bungie.net, and let the whole world download it.
Bungie have even said they'd consider putting good ones (and proper good ones, not just randomly chosen crap) into some form of matchmaking.
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3162410
there's a link in the op
Canceled, yes. Recovered my $10 deposit, no. Apparently one needs to physically be present to reclaim that.
Long live the Cheat, Einhander.
Here's some stuff pulled over from the last thread
Doesn't your member account run through all stores? If you have $10 in credit in SLC they can't access it in Portland? Super-lame. It's only $10, but I'd be pissed on principle alone.
Shit, now that I think about it, $10 is 800 MS Points. That's a full copy of SotN.
Steam / Bus Blog / Goozex Referral
The Assault Rifle is one of the best weapons I have ever had the pleasure of spawning with.
The SMG was terrible, and controlling ANY of the long range weapons means you win 95% of the time.
And on games/maps where Battle Rifles are the default spawn, host wins.
It's fuckin' retarded.
The Assault Rifle in Halo3 gives EVERYBODY a running chance at beating essentially every weapon in Halo3, at least that is my observations from playing the Beta. While the power weapons increase your chances of winning, the Assault Rifle never leaves you hanging.
Nope. Not a bit.
Compare them as just basic Team DMs, and you could make a case for CoD4. When you consider the ridiculous wealth of multiplayer game options that Halo 3 provides, I don't think CoD4 has a shot. You'll never see gametypes like Hammertime or Brokeback Grenade Tag in a Call of Duty game. And that's excluding co-op which CoD4 lacks completely (even though their charlieoscardelta.com poll showed something like 98% of responders wanted co-op).
speak for yourself man
I love being able to change spawn points and add teleporters and shit.
I mean, wouldn't it be funny as hell to make a map entitled "MLG on High Ground" and have all blue team spawn in side a HUGE barricade of boxes with plasma pistols only, while the reds spawn outside the wall with rockets, Spartan Lasers, Swords and Hammers? I can see myself pulling that on so many people.
"Yeah, you guys go red. We always do better as blue team...."
