I'm going to fully pay off my Collector's Edition of Halo 3 tomorrow.
I'm the most excited about Forge, to be honest. At first, I was disappointed that it wasn't a fully-functioning map creation tool (as I've used Source SDK and UnrealEd), but seeing the possibilities, it really feels like a mix of being a Dungeon Master and a Referee.
yeah, that was my first reaction to Forge too, but after seeing how it's actually going to be fun, and multiplayer fun at that, rather than just a tool for making maps, i'm entirely behind the concept. And then i think about the campaign, and how much awesome i expect that to be. Then checking out the weird and crazy gametypes people come up with in Forge. And then unlocking all the funky armour, and the skulls (which i'm now going to be trying to do, since they seem to be a fully-featured part of the game, rather than some neat easter-eggs for those who eat legendary for breakfast).
And then i get a bit light-headed.
edit: yeah, i'm a SP guy at heart, i've put more time into Halo 1 and 2 campaign than any amount of time into any multiplayer game (easily). But after getting my hands on the beta, it actually felt like something i'd be happy wasting a good few hours in. Not in a competitive way, i'll use matchmaking when there's nothing else, but mostly playing PA folk, where i'm pretty sure i can kick back a little more.

As long as I get chilling and awesome lines like this
If anyone wants my GT, as that seems to be the trend, it's Sushisources because Sushisource was lost the ye old xbox hell pit, so I had to add an S to the end.

I was reading through the UNSC weapon descriptions on Bungie, and it finally dawned on me what "romeo echo mike foxtrots" meant. All those Vietnam war books learned me a thing or two. I guess Bungie keeps up with the military acronyms.

Mine is in my sig, which is cool as I just got my 360 (weep at my pathetic Gamerscore). I also grabbed a copy of Halo 1 (only $20) and I'll get Halo 2 tomorrow so I can beat them both then dip my feet into the multiplayer so I have something of a fighting chance come the 25th.

I can imagine what Mike Foxtrots probably means, but i'm not getting the 'romeo echo' part.
It's interesting to see things like a treaty with the Elites in the notes on those guides.
Neat little things to notice (Like the way they explained how you couldn't use the Fuel Rod Cannon in Halo 1 for Xbox, "Dead Man's Switch").

Huh? Did I miss something? Where's all this stuff?

The RE stands for "rear echelon" - REMF is/was a disparaging term used by soldiers to describe dilettantes who work far away from the front lines and do little, if any fighting (and can apply to soldiers of any rank, even/especially brass). The term implies incompetence (e.g. the M16 powder issue, theorycrafting) and being out of touch with the conditions soldiers face at the front.

Rear Echelon Mofos
The brass. The people far away from the front.
Also I must have the CE and continue growing my glorious collection of games in Tins. Ninja armor is looking real fresh, I'm liking all the odd permutations coming out, it means we'll actually see some diversity in looks now to differentiate the team and enemies. I gotta wonder which are most effective for camo or hit boxes, like certain colors just work better as natural camo in free for all, breaking up the human form with the old mc helmet and small visor is better than a nice shiny bubble of the SPI helmet. Which will be most advantageous, which are liabilities- like the Elite body and massive spiked headpiece.
Meh, I won't worry about advantages unless there's a massive, game-breaking one. I plan to use, like everyone and their mother and their mother's entire extended family, the ODST armor. In black, if available.

I realized just before I wrote this that it's an assumption, but didn't everybody start making the hit-boxes consistent for all models in a game after Quake 2? It seems like a shitty design decision to tie performance to such shallow aesthetic choices. (Of course they can't help the camo effect.)
Just a heads up for my fellow Canadians: It appears as though futureshop.ca is still taking pre-orders for the Legendary version of Halo 3. I don't know if they guarantee you one or not, but it's there for the taking. You also get $10 dollars off the price if you order online. Although if you pre-order at a store you get a Halo 3 hat and a t-shirt that says 'I PWN'.
Also the website says they have a little over 30 Elites in stock if anyone is interested.
In this video a developer for Battlefield: Bad Company tries to show off their destructible environments by saying, "If there's no way in to a house, you can make your own door," and then shoots an RPG at a house...
which goes straight through a door and out in to a gunfight.
I know this is the Halo thread but there's no chat thread any more and I am sad

I work for futureshop.ca (as has been mentioned many times. SHILL!). We don't overbook our pre-orders. We have a set amount of pre-orders and we sell to that point. When we reach it, pre-orders will be cut off.
I got stung by mall-based game trading competitor X once. I made sure our pre-order program is not rife with that bullshit.

Wait, what? The ODST armor is in multiplayer?
Anyway, snipers don't look for the guy that have pimpin suits. They look for dudes who are the easiest to kill, attacking their teammates, or have rocket launchers/swords.
I doubt there'd be much problem being the dude with the orange head.

Hopefully it has the same party system as Halo 3 and CoD4.
we do actually need a Bad Company thread, but i've made two "look, EA games that aren't all that bad" threads, and i'd feel like a shill making a third. But yes, those videos make it look pretty awesome, and i did laugh when he missed.

No, but there's a perm with a visor much like an ODSTs.
And I still can't wait to use the EVA armor. I won't get killed more than anyone else on the team.
Hopefully it has the same party system as Halo 3 and CoD4.

After EA's CEO made the comment about upping the quality of their games, it really does appear that they're trying to do so as of late. They're following the ubisoft model of not making shitty games.
I was just told by a friend that major Halo 3 spoilers are out there on the internets. He didn't say anything more specific (where, etc.). Consider yourself warned!
Sticking to PA/other forums you definitely trust (not SA or 4chan, etc.) would be a good idea.

ahahahaha!
holy shit, didn't even see the gamer score. How do you get a gamer score like that? Play every piece of crap they put out for max achievement?
Hey Scarab could you by chance post my gt in the gamertag thread since I don't have an account there yet? :P
were you not one of the 2500 juniors spawning in real time?

Multiplayer will give it legs but Bioshock confirmed that I am a SP man. It has to be good. We know MP is going to be awesome, thats a given.
Also, when I get Gold membership again probably on the 25th Ill friends list a bunch of people and get you guys my gt.
And then i get a bit light-headed.

My heart bleeds for them and their stupidity. oh wait... It doesn't. | scar | you are one huge fucking moron.
Is that the quote from the start of the Halo 3 e307 trailer?
Cause I dont think that was the Prophet of Truth.
It was High Charity Halo 2
Also NINJA ARMOR PERM!
Damn I need to go back and play Halo 2.
Edit - If they have a Ninja Permutation, they have to have a Pirate Permutation.
I guess we found our perp.
