New Toys

Crates and Barrels: What better to start with than basics. These item containers have been revamped to support the themes of certain levels.

Assist Trophy: This is the Pokeball of the Nintendo Universe. Any kind of cameo you could think of comes from within...

Gooey Bomb: The Gooey Bomb acts as a sticky Remote Mine. While stuck to a character, it can be passed back after making contact with another player.
item01_070524c.jpgitem01_070524e.jpg

Cracker Launcher: This projectile launcher isn't as racist as it sounds. It might be more recognizable as a 'Roman Candle'. We saw it briefly in the short clip from Min-E3.

Banana Peel: Because Cliche's work.
item04_070627b.jpgitem04_070627d.jpg

Bumper: A return from the 64, relatable to Melee's Flipper item. A new twist leaves this possible to plant mid-air.
item05_070711b.jpgitem05_070711d.jpg

Pitfall: The item from Animal Crossing. Surprisingly, it caries its ability from Animal Crossing over very well. Simply making characters fall thru holes or thru platforms.
item06_070731b.jpgitem06_070731d.jpg

Smoke Ball: An original item, soley based on obscurity. This item deals no damage, but rather actually just blinds the player from the screen.
item07_070806b.jpgitem07_070806d.jpg

Franklin Badge: Debuting from the Mother Series (Earthbound), this relates to Fox's Reflector, like the Screw Attack Ball relates to Samus' Screw Attack. Basically, it reflects projectiles.

Discussion (Read: Bitchings)
These are some things to expect in regards to the updates. The type of updated listed, and the expected discussion that can follow.

Music update - Next day spent argueing about MIDI files vs Orchestrated.

Item update - Someone inevitably pisses off the competitve players with the "Why no items" arguement. Other than that, everyone is generally happy.

B Moves update - People are generally meh about this towards returning characters, pretty happy about it towards new characters.

Final Smash update - 1 of 2 updates people everyone appreciates.

New/Old Character update - Pretty cool to see old characters revamped. Pretty awesome to see brand new characters.

Stage update - Next day spent arguing about gimmick levels vs. Battlefield/Final Destination.

Tutorial update - Boring tutorials, but spectacular mode discussions.

Movie update - Dicks cumming, all of them, simultaneously, with super mushroom power-ups.

Also, I still doubt that Sakurai is posting the biggest things SSBB has to offer yet. I'm sure he's planned out what he's going to announce when, and it'll probably be more and more exciting as time goes on, which will cause the huge attention that's already focused on its updates to grow and by the time it'll hit shelves....

    That's my prediction anyways.

To continue the discussion from the previous thread:

The reason why i would turn off smash balls is simple. Even if they do spawn in a fixed location, you're basically placing an 'I-Win' button on the stage that appears at different intervals. If you happen to be closer when it randomly appears, then I die, or vice versa.

Again, it just comes down to the fact that I would rather play my opponent than play the items/stage/pissant luck.

I doubt Smash Balls will be possible to turn off.

I suspect that actions in the fight will be what triggers them, perhaps a different action for each character.

If I wanted a serious match, I'd probably follow suite.
But if I'm just dicking around with friends (since, as my friends generally leech off my console so I'm better than them anyway), I usually leave the items on. Though, a lot of them have Wii's this time around, so this may change.

Which it almost definitely will not.

Yeah I imagine some peaks when major announcements are made.

Also, man, just over 12 weeks till release!!!

And when we get closer the posting will be more frequent. I mean, the week before? Two weeks? Plus, I'm assuming that that's when they're going to start reeling out the huge super-awesome announcements, so that they can control the hypemobile up to release, to ensure maximum explosions of dicks. We'll be going through a thread a fucking day.

It'll be like they just released the Wii. Again.O_o

And just imagine what it'll be like when it's actually released. The internet will explode and stay exploded for like, a month at least.

Is that because of all the continuous poasting or because everyone normally employed to fix exploded intertubes will be far too busy playing SSB:B?

So if you check the Tingle thread, it appears that the development team that's covering the "Make Tingle its own franchise" initiative hasn't talked to Sakurai about anything.

It's kind of sad, he already has two games, I was actually expecting him to be playable.

At the very least he should be an assist. He's too big a character not to be.

I predict this game will outsell Super Mario Bros.

In fact, 40 million seems like a low estimate.

    Nintendo's first billion-seller?

That's only one copy for every 6 people on the planet. It seems reasonable.

Hell, throw em in different colored cases, and the game will sell a few hundred million in Japan alone.

Are there any other series that we know are going to be included? Ice Climbers and Game and Watch are the only two from Melee that we're missing, but neither of those characters have been confirmed.

I'm tired and my brain is acting wonky, but...

Well, if I'm not mistaken, that 18 number was worked out by someone looking at the site code or whatever, right?

Now, what if there are unlockables that are not from any already announced (or going-to-be-announced) series. They wouldn't be on the site (because that'd spoil the 'unlockable' surprise) and so there wouldn't be any code for them or something, right?

So, you know, it might be more than 18.

That's why he said "if we assume there are only the 18 series represented."

Yeah I was just trying to figure out what is the maximum number of surprises we can expect. It sounds like there's at least two - unless it's Ice Climbers and G&W. So we actually know nothing at all.

It's interesting we haven't seen Snake's icon yet though. It leaves the possibility that we won't have MGS as a stand-alone series placeholder, but a single icon/series covering all of the "NOTendo" content.

I'm still holding out for the wrench though. Please include some Advance Wars COs. That will make me so happy.

No, we've seen Snake's symbol, it's a MG symbol. But it was on the old site, before they started assigning numbers to the icons.

Actually, we have seen Snake's/MGS's logo: The Kojima FOX logo. It was on the old website for Snake's profile before it went into it's blog format.
