Hey, I was just wondering if anyone wanted to go with us to the Jonathan Coulton concert at the Triple Door in Seattle on September 23rd. The concert is at 7:30 and the doors open at 5:30.
I just saw the show in Hollywood, and he was magnificent. If you go (and I highly recommend that you do) make sure you get there early enough to watch all of Paul and Storm, who are just as awesome as Jonathan Coulton.
My friend was at the JC show in Austin tonight. He said it was insanely fantastic. I guess JC played Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" as part of his set.
They say seating is first come first serve, so does anyone know if there would be a line when the door opens? But it's like two hours before the concert... Also, does anyone know if we are required to have dinner there? They've got quite an extensive menu it seems like.. I've never been to Triple Door. XD
The show in Houston was awesome beyond measure. Being the day after Talk Like a Pirate day didn't hurt. It was sold out. If you haven't gotten your tickets for wherever you're at, you should do so.
First of all, Paul and Storm were fucking awesome. If you're going to an upcoming JC show, and they're opening, move heaven and earth to go early. You won't be disappointed.
Second of all, Coulton was awesome. He seemed much more relaxed in a smallver venue, save a mishap and some heckling while working a remote. A lot of the same songs from PAX, but he mixed it up more than I would have anticipated, which was a very pleasant suprise. Instead of one or two songs different, there were almost a half a dozen songs not played at PAX. And even the ones that were the same, he toyed with a bit so they were a little different.
Very pleasant experience, and over all, one of the best concerts I've been to.
Yep, it was a great show last night. What was that cool "synth-tar" thing he busted out yesterday? I meant to ask him why he didn't play that at PAX, but I forgot...

I wish I could have gone, but I just moved into the UW dorms this weekend and was too busy with other things. Any chance he's due back in Seattle soon?
Hey, I was at the Portland Coulton show looking for you fellow PAXers. I was wearing my Fruit Fucker shirt for easy spotting. No one said hi. I did find one other dude in the same exact FF t-shirt I was wearing so I approached and said (assumed) "you must be from PAX!" He replied he got the shirt as a present and has no idea what it means.
Bah!
Anyway, great concert. Lots of fun. I was in the second row of the balcony. My friend Mark brought the email addy sign up sheet to the stage for Paul and Storm and got a poptart. :-)

Me, too. Being at the show, that is; not so much the nearby apartment.
I'm also a huge fan of DaVinci's Notebook, which is the band that Paul and Storm were in before it broke up... well, not band, but a cappella group.
Is it Sunday yet?

Your love is Christopher Walken.
Paul and Storm came out a sang with JC for a good portion of his set, adding additional instruments and backing vocals. Very cool.
Can't wait until they make it back to Seattle again : )
"Did that just happen??"
