Once this cutscene is finished, I'll update that then check the thread for which path you guys would prefer to take after I finish up at work tomorrow.
TEAMWORK.
OK, so I said that already, but I can't stress the point enough. I've played through the game using all three routes at least once, but... I don't know, for some reason it doesn't feel like Fate of Atlantis to me without Sophia tagging along.
I got this several years ago in a large CD ROM collection (Lucas Arts Archeives Vol.1. Had all the nessesities like this, Day of the Tenticle, Sam and Max, and a few others). As cruel as fate might be, while I finished the game, I never got to see the full ending. I got stuck at one puzzle and I had the right idea, but I didn't pixel hunt properly so I was at a stand-still for almost a year.
By the time I acctually got past the puzzle in question (The one on the Crete Islands, with the horns and the land-tool), my computer had taken several hits to it's performance and it fought me tooth and nail to play this game. Whenever I finally beat the game, I would get a memory error and it would kick me back to DOS.
I guess it will pay for me to keep an eye on this thread. I would vouch for the Indy+Sophia path though since it has some of the best interactions between the two.
Man, I really wish I had gotten the chance to play some of these games. I've played all the LucasArts adventure games except for the IJ ones and The Dig. And now I am filled with envy.
So, hey guys. How about that Monkey Island 2? I've been playing through it recently and I'd forgotten how obscure and crazy some of these puzzles are. I'm talking about the monkey wrench here. :P
The Dig is like really highbrow sci-fi. I was amazed when I played it.
I love the Monkey Island series. Bad transition to 3D, though.
Gotta grab myself a copy while I still can then. The LucasArts classics version of The Dig is still available around where I live and I really want to play it now. :P And I need a new copy of Curse of monkey Island.
Yeah, I first played the Monkey Island games in the correct order, and well, Monkey island 4 didn't really live up to the others. Still pretty good though.
The main character is voiced by Robert Patrick, known as the "liquid metal" Terminator in Terminator 2, the hardass Agent Doggett from later X-Files seasons and the hardass Colonel from The Unit.
Doctor Brink is voiced by Steven Blum, one of the most prolific voice actors in video games, anime and cartoons. He played Sid in Full Throttle, Ares in God of War and many, many others.
It was originally conceived by Steven Spielberg. The dialogue was written by Orson Scott Card, and was co-written by Brian Moriarty. It's a special game.

The dig was a fantastic game. Absolutely fantastic, I was torn between doing it or this but Fate of Atlantis is one of my favourite games ever.
I can't even remember the ending. I just remember being filled with awe and being blown away by finishing the game as an interactive scifi literature experience.
Awesome thread. One time on a trip I loaded SCUMMvm on my PSP and played this, Day of the Tentacle, and Sam and Max the entire time.
Also, as for path: Teamwork is a must. This is an Indiana Jones movie in all but name, so there needs to be someone to bounce witty banter off of. Plus, some of the events that happen are much more entertaining with Sophia there.
When I was 12 or 13 I wrote an interpretation of The Dig for an essay in school. I wish I still had that; the story absolutely blew me away back then. I love it dearly, and it always seem to get the least attention of some of the classic Lucasarts games. The ending is pretty inconclusive, so they could have made a sequel, too. I've completed it more times than I can count.
I know how esoteric and obscure adventure games can be sometimes, but Lucasarts games never, ever frustrated me. I could honestly do without any other type of adventure game ever again as long as Lucasarts (or the guys responsible for the games) resumed making them the way they did in the 90s. We have Sam 'n' Max back, and that's great, but I'd like to see more original titles, and, well, Indiana Jones and Monkey Island. The only thing on the horizon is Vampyre Story (which is made by some ex-LA guys, I believe), but it's been stuck in limbo for God knows how long.
Didn't some guy make his own Indiana Jones game? I forget what it's called, but it looked exactly like the old ones. It wasn't finished when last I saw it.

Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis Part 3: Think Bigger! Think of Bombs!
The story so far.
Indiana and Sophia were working together on an archeological dig in Iceland originally, where the statue and necklace were found, amongst other things. The magazine that Klaus had on him mentioned the two items and where they could be found. The lost dialogue that was stolen from Sternhart probably mentioned the effects that orichalcum and Atlantean artifacts have when they interact with each other.
The Nazis have a physicist who is looking for a new power source to fuel a more powerful bomb than those currently available, so the scientist had Klaus Kerner go and look into it for him.
He stole the statue from Indy, then afterwards headed to New York to see Sophia and try and obtain whatever artifacts she had from the digs as well as information on Atlantis itself. She gave up archeology and became a psychic who also specialises in Atlantean history. Which she uses to fleece her followers. (Shown by the fake ghost during her show.)
Though she believes that Nur Ab Sal is a real spiritual being that resides in her necklace, which is why she refuses to give it away.
Because she was giving her little speech downstairs when Klaus broke into her room, he missed the necklace and orichalcum bead that she placed in the pendant in that cutscene. Indy and Sophia are now trying to locate the Lost Dialogue to work out where the Nazis plan to head to next and prevent them from achieving their goals.
Costa said he knew the location of the Lost Dialogues, but would only tell them if they had a rare Atlantean artifact. The only one we currently know of is the one Bjorn was cutting out of the wall in Iceland, so we're heading over there now.
Sternhart found the Worldstone, which works as a key to gain entry to Atlantean buildings and outposts, however since he's run off with it the only option now is to regain the Dialogue, which gives the locations of Atlantis itself. Then Indy can go and cut the Nazis off at the pass.
After being abandoned in Tikal by Dr Richard Sternhart. PhD. (He'd never forgive me if I didn't mention it) Our heroic duo set course for Iceland, to obtain a Atlantean artifact to trade for information regarding the whereabouts of the Lost Dialogue of Plato.
Ah Iceland. The scenic views, the bracing air and the....
Frozen bodies of old dead scientologists.
Wow, guess Bjorn had never spent any money on a heater.
Sophia suggests checking out the statue in the wall.
There's a hole big enough to slot a small bead through. Hmmm.
One Orichalcum bead later and we're in business. Up one curved snake idol, down one stubborn Swede.
Indy and Sophia now head back to Costa in the Azores to trade for some information on the Dialogue's location.
In the meantime somewhere in Nazi Germany......
The Search For The Dialogue
After landing in the Azores, Indy and Sophia travel to meet Costa again, a historian and collector of artifacts and information. Trading the eel figurine to Costa, he tells them that the lost copy of the manuscript can be found in the Pearce collection. Which is held at Barnett College, the university Indiana teaches at.
Once arrived, Indy goes searching for the Dialogue, while Sophia heads across the street to his office to wait for him.
Oh and Sophia and her crazy spirit are fair game after all the shit she gave him over his name while they were in the Azores and Tikal.
After searching through the basement and having no luck Indy heads upstairs towards the attic in search of the Pearce collection.
Unfortunately the totem is too heavy to move so its time to duck across the street for a bite to eat before getting back to saving the world.
Unless the food in the fridge may kill you. Then its probably not the best time.
Hey, but motor oil could come in handy for a certain giant totem pole.
Success. Now to continue the hunt in the attic.
What? Everyone digs through ashes. There could be something important in there.
Aha! After slogging through a jungle in Central America, freezing in Iceland and racking up some serious frequent flying points the Lost Dialogue of Plato is ours!
And it was only one god damn floor below where the game started.
The Lost Dialogue of Plato
The Choosing Of Paths
After heading back to Indy's office its time to show the Dialogue.
Here we go again.....
Fine. Go ahead.
Sure. According to the crazy voices in your head. You'll understand if we're a bit sceptical.
And here we are. Once I get back from work tomorrow I'll get started on the next update. This part was mostly back story, so we'll get rolling once we're past this portion of the game.
Looks like its going to be Teamwork at the moment though.

Damn, I remember how shocked I was as the plot of The Dig evolved from deep-space exploration to psychological horror story. Great game.
And great Indy 4 post. And yes, it'll always be THE Indy 4, no matter how many movies they make.
Man... I was scared until the full picture loaded.
Looked like you were that guy from Star Trek with the visor.
does it make you feel better that I took a good few minutes to figure out how to pose with two hands and click the capture button on my webcam? and then I thought "Cyclops" but also "Geordi"
Maybe I'm weird, but I like Wits best. The puzzles just seem more interesting and varied - the solution in Team is often to ask Sophia to whore herself out to whatever drooling academic virgin you're trying to get something from, and the solution in Fist is usually "Use Fist With Face".
Though yeah, volunteering Sophia for the knife-thrower is quite priceless.

How on earth did I miss this.
Now I want a new copy.
This predated Monkey Island for me; I think it was the first adventure game I'd ever seen.

I'm with you, wits away! Also, if you go the wits path there will be sandwiches. Sandwiches.
When I got my wisdom teeth extracted, I goaded my dad into buying me this game. It is one of four video games my parents ever bought me. I set up my Mac LC at the side of my bed and spent two days hopped up on codeine playing this game.
Later I got the CD-ROM version as part of some Mac games bundle from LucasArts.
I vote Teamwork. It just doesn't seem like FoA without Sophia as someone said earlier. Plus, there's potential for funnier captions with the dialog Indy and Sophia share.

I want wits too, but you can make sandwiches on the sub in teamwork too.
With wits you get to see pretty much every location. Thera is my favorite little area. Plus dressing up as a nazi and INDYWEAR tm!
I never beat this game. I got to a point where you had to arrange 3 discs in a certain order. I even cheated and got a guide off a BBS that said how to do it, it just didn't work.
I still don't know what happens, I just remember loving this game.
um, how is the OP getting such clear screencaps from pausing the screen? I'm using SCUMM as well for Full Throttle, and every time i pause the screen, it dims and the big window pops up telling me i am paused.

Oh god, I just remembered about the machine or something that brought stuff back to life in The Dig.
You say that like it's a bad thing. :P
Well it does have the submarine. I'll grant you its pretty awesome.
But I love punching out the Singing Nazi. You know the one.
But Teamwork is okay too I guess

I still don't know what happens, I just remember loving this game.
Being a wee lad, it took me months. I remember I chose the Make Indy a God ending and cried.
Besides, anyone who reaches that point already has a good idea of how they want to tackle problems.
