I haven't seen Stardust yet. I think I'll remedy that today as it's still showing in a theater just a few blocks from me.
It's pretty good although it starts off a little slow. I really liked the visuals and the tone.

The only part of Stardust that I wasn't in love with was Claire Danes. Something about her just bugs me. She was kinda ehh in the movie, compared to everyone else who was "oh shit, awesome"

Ring a bell and then beat him with a belt when he does something you don't like. When he's older, you can have a lot of fun with him by ringing that bell during important events.

Deepdiscount.com, they have a sale going on right now for A&E dvds. Buy one, get one free. This is off their already low prices and applies to box sets so check it out. As far as I know, this sale isn't only for existing customers. They have pretty good specials there and are worth checking on every so often, or just get on their mailing list to be notified when they're having sales/specials.
Also, standard shipping is free so what you see up there is my total cost.

I saw Stardust tonight and I enjoyed it. There were a lot of changes from the original story that I thought worked well for the adaptation to film, especially Captain Shakespeare. He was a lot of fun.

However the change that I resent is how they changed the ending. The ending of the original story had much more impact precisely because he was still mortal and she outlived him, but could never go back to the sky. The movie ending was so bland.

Sadly, too few films will take a risk on a "not happily ever after" ending these days, especially if they're hoping to get commissioned for sequels.

A shame really, but the majority of the movie going public would rather come out of a film like that happy rather than moved.

Seriously. I didn't even bother with it, as it's one of those films that I knew would be trash, because I read the book, and the previews gave me a very bad vibe. Even my 12-year-old niece who was pretty fanatic about the book didn't go see it, becasue she figured it was going to suck.

Way back my buddy Matt told me that he'd gone to see it and I'm like "Why?"

    Honestly.
