Hailed by Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada as the new example of Marvel’s open policy toward gays in their books as “the star of Marvel Team-Up.” Quesada went on to say, “We’ve had more gay and lesbian characters appearing in Marvel comics than ever before.” Marvel Team-Up #24, three weeks after Quesada’s comments, features Freedom Ring, his finger sliced off and then graphically killed with 28 spikes impaling him, including one through the groin and protruding from his anus. Series cancelled with issue #25.

Reminds me when I left my wallet in the undergraduate library. I thought I had lost it and checked the lost and found on the off chance that I set it down there and forgot about it. Turns out it was there and it still had the 40 dollars in it, thanks largely to someone like elki!

I was thinking more in terms of it being pretty stupid to store the only copy of your thesis work on a thumb drive. Given that people give away 1GB thumb drves for free, they're hardly worth stealing in and of themselves, and losing one wouldn't be overly upsetting if you had backups.
Then I think of one of my friends, whose computer (upon which was the only copy of three years of thesis work, two weeks before his final submission) died. I had to try and make it work again. That was tense.
