EDIT: The trip will be Monday the 29th. We will meet outside the doubletree at 10:30am. We will take a public bus or if some has a car and want to take a group over that would be best. Tickets for the museum are 12.95 and 26.95 for both the museum and EMP. If you are interested in going email me at my address below ( so i have some idea of what to expect also include if you can supply transportation.) Hope to see a lot of you there!
Well I know a lot of you are from the seattle area so most of probably have seen it already but I'm coming from Pennsylvania and want to make the most of my trip. So im going to the science fiction museum. I thought it would be cool if some of us tourists meet up and take a bus or something to museum.
I'm totally game for this. What day were you planning? I also told some friends I'd get pictures of Kurt Cobain's grave, but that was just to appease them. I have NO idea where his grave is, and I don't really feel like giving up too much geek time to go visit a dead celebrity's burial place. But yeah, Sci Fi museum!
I dragging my girlfriend up this year, and one of the conditions of her going is she wants to see the seattle zoo. So we're hanging around Monday to go site seeing. Let me know when you guys are going as I'm planning to hit the spaceneedle at some point during the day too.

Well Im flying into seattle wednesday the 24th so it thought either wednesday or thursday but I also I will be around the monday after. Any time is good for me. Since I wont have a rental Im going to have to use public transportation does any one know the best route. Also if you wanted to see the space needle its awful conveinent considering the museum is at the base of it.

I live in Seattle, but I may be up to go to that museum again.
At the Halo 2 launch party, which was at the museum, we got to see all the exhibits for NO FEE. There was tons of free food, free Halo 2 playing, and all the Bungie guys were there. It was like almost as cool as E3.
Anyway, the SCI FI museum rocks. They have the full-size queen alien on the bottem floor and its freaky as shit!
Edit: Also, you guys know that this museum and the Experience Music Project are the same building right? I'm not sure if you have to pay seperately or not, but the EMP is also DEFINITELY worth a look if you love music.
This museum building is like a 100 foot walk from the Space Needle, so anyone that wants to see the Needle would be smart to join the museum group. That is, to say, there are quite a few things to do in the "Seattle Center" if you have never been there before.
Woodland Park zoo is actually north of downtown quite a ways. It's over by where I work. It's a cool part of town, and I just went to the zoo recently. It has gotten REALLY cool. They had a spider exhibit last time I went, and the spiders were not even in a glass or anything, they were free to just be wherever they wanted. I guess they said those types of spiders never leave their web, so they don't need to cage em up.
Whatever day is best for everyone else I can do it the wednesday and thursday before or the monday after. although I believe thursday to be best becuase I believe I will pass out monday.
Don’t miss the museum, how many times are you going to be in Seattle anyway! Don't worry about finding people to go with, I did, and we ended up taking two car loads!
But all of this is just a chance to show my pretty face again! http://logiclan.com/pax/pages/ZZ040830_122624_jpg.htm (thanks Logic! See you in 520) that’s me on the right, we stopped at Denny’s!!! WHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it would be cool if some of us tourists meet up and take a bus or something to museum.
The bus would work. Though, to be honest, I'd pay cab fare, from Bellevue to Seattle and back, just to pay my respects to the Queen. If anyone can provide transportation, either a local or a fellow tourist with a rental car, I hereby volunteer my services as a designated driver.
Oh yah, i forgot it was in the same building as EMP. As far as the halo 2 launch party went i just ended up winning a free halo MC doll and going home. I was _almost_ at the front of the line to play when my ticket # got called and i sure as asdfsdf@2 wasn't going to go to the back of the line again to wait to play it.
It sounds like you are talking about Halo 2 at PAX last year. There wasn't a ticket number at EMP's launch, as far as I know. I was in the second group of people to play the game. I played for 10 minutes and spent the rest of the time talking to Marty O'Donnel, Frankie, etc.
And no, I did not offer to buy them Crispy Creams just cuase they made good games (in reference to the retards + valve).

Oh yes, I forgot the Cargo Suit is also on display right next to her. Other things to note are the T-100 Terminator, Robocop, R2-D2, and a big friggin' display screen that is a whole wall and you can choose any ship from any show or movie and it will fly around on the screen (even has the planet express ship from Futurama, or an x-wing).
There is a lot of insane crap, but I'll leave it open for surprise.
Sometime Saturday or Sunday morning would be best for me. Of course, I guess I could always go solo. I'm kinda frightened, because I don't travel much, and I've never had need for public transportation and don't know how expensive it is. About how much is the cabfare from bellevue to the museum, or does anyone have a clue?
Well it seems that monday would be a good day to go. I have a bunch of bus schedules and such but it would be easier if a seatle native could tell us how to get from bellevue to the museum.
There are really two "sides" to western Washington. "East Side" is Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Woodenville (game development areas). "West Side" is Seattle, Lynnwood, Shoreline, etc.
The thing dividing the sides is Lake Washington. So to get accross, you need to take one of two of the "floating bridges". Yes, we have two massive highways that float in the large lake (its pretty cool to see the first time). Each of the two highways uses a different floating technique, to my knowledge. Anyway, the further south one is I-90.
I-90 is the one you will take because Bellevue basically mirrors Seattle, it's just on the other side. So you will fly accross I-90 (well not fly, its 60 MPH) and then find the exit to Downtown Seattle/Seattle Center. I don't know if the exit is called that, but in Seattle, all of the exists are named by some sort of key word like that (much like L.A.).
So yeah, you are looking for the Seattle Center which is this big sort-of park that has the Space Needle, some rides, EMP, the museum, the Pacific Science Center (way cool scientific exhibits, has nothing to do with the science fiction museum, dont get them confused), an IMAX theater that is really new, and the Key Arena (where our Seattle Sonics basketball team plays).
Does that help a little?
Edit: Buses are a really good means of transportation all over the area. We have trains on the west side, but to get from one side to the other you want to use buses most of the time because its cheap. We have this whole "Sound Transit" company that manages all of this stuff. It works out alright.
Its 12.95 for the Scifi Museum and for both SFM and EMP its 26.95. We will go on monday the 29th at 10 30am. Where we will be meeting and transportation are yet to be determined. the buses seem the cheapest but if someone has a rental and wants to take a group over that would be good too. My idea for meeting is outside the doubletree.
Well in that case why not just meet at the museum? But for the rest of us who are staying in at the doubletree and red lion for the expo should meet outside the doubletree and go to the museum together in cars or a bus.
I've been to the Star Trek experience thing in Vegas twice now (before and after they added they new ride.) Is this more like an actual museum or is it more like the Star Trek thing in Vegas. It sounds fun.
Huge museum with artifacts used in all the actual movies. Almost nothing is a replica except some of the full-sized robots (I think their R2-D2 is a replica, but their Terminator is real). They have stuff as odd as the hand T-1000 had with the little sword coming out of his finger! That's a cool hand, I want one.
Edit: This is the #1 museum I have ever been to on any of my travels, and it's right in my back yard. It is a really good museum guys, you should love it if you love SCI FI.

The ticket # wasn't to play halo it was for a drawing. You could win a copy of halo 2, a master chief doll, etc. I was called out of line to win something (i didn't know what it was at the time). By the time i got my prize the people who were around me were already playing. If you were there that day you know how loooonnggg the line was, so there was really no way i was going to the end of it to play some halo 2 .
According to Khoo the museum is 25-30 minutes away so if we leave at 1030ish we would be there by eleven but if i were you i wouldnt cut it that close to your flight

Check out the pics I'm not suppost to have of the sci fi museum:
http://logiclan.com/pax/pages/ZZ040830_144041_jpg.htm
My advice is to skip the zoo and go to the sci fi museum. The Seattle Zoo really isn't that great.
They could drive down to portland though. Portlands zoo is pretty decent. I didn't even know we had a sci-fi museum up here though.

95% of the convention attendees are staying on the Eastside.
