I seem to remember hearing something about this from PSP owners in the past (that the game was alot of fun). I've never played it myself but it looks kinda interesting. Anyone here who has played the PSP version? The game looks kinda interesting from what I've seen on the website ... and I do like shoot em up type racers.

edit: IGN has a teaser trailer up

Awesome! This game would also be a good candidate for wiiware, I'd say. These guys deserve to make as much as they can from this game, since they're quite cool guys - they hung around these forums for the PSP release and took quite a lot of feedback from us.

I've not seen much of this, but the screenshots at least grabbed my interest. But then, I never actually play the Arcade titles that I buy, so I'm starting to worry about whether I should buy more or not. Undertow, for instance, I really liked, but haven't bought yet.

I'm in the same boat ... I just haven't had the time to devote to multiple titles. I've also found that alot of XBLA titles get skipped over multiplayer wise so I've started to try to only buy "for sure there will be somebody to play with a month from now" titles like Bomberman, Catan, etc

Yup, I grabbed Bomberman, Catan.. Speedball 2 (which I absolutely have to play more), and some others. I think I will buy Undertow, because it was surprisingly good fun, and I'll likely get this if it turns out good. Then I just need to make more time to actually play the damned things. Hopefully Christmas will help out here.
Could also help if I go and clean off all the trial versions I've got (loads), and if MS provide a better system for browsing them, rather than just a big list of all the games installed. If I could filter by 'owned' and 'trials', that'd be a big start.

Yeah, don't go in expecting a racer, because it's really not. There are races as bonus maps, but to be honest the flat out racing is pretty damned awful. The meat of the game is essentially a Mario 64 type game with cars. You're bouncing around oddly designed maps basically trying to collect a variety of things, while performing stunts, and finishing various different goals. Go youtube it. It hit the PSN a few months ago, so I'm sure there are some pretty good examples of map goals on there.

But again, yeah, don't go in expecting a racer, because you'll be pretty disappointed.

And lest I sound too critical, the actual game itself outside of the few races is awesome. You have to give it a chance to set in though. My first impression was that it was awful. It's extremely bouncy, with very loose handling and such. Once you get the way the game plays, get that its more platformer than racer, and get the hang of the stunts and such, it really clicks, and you realize what a gem it is.

Yes. This game was awesome on the PSP, and it should get some of the sales its always deserved from Live.

As Aoi said, don't expect a racing game. Its a really weird mash-up of genres. I've always told people its like Monkey-Ball but with cars and more platforming. It is seriously an awesome game that no one should pass up. Get it, get it, get it.
    Get it.

I didn't much care for the Bioshock review. It didn't deliver on the funnies like the previous reviews, but it wasn't bad.

The ending was very weak, though. Usually his videos have good endings.

Did you just review a review?

I found reVerse's review to be too short and a little light on content and quality. Still, his punctuation and sentence structure was better than most.

If this is going to be the definitive version as they claim then it sure as hell better have online play, the map editor, and the minigames. If it doesn't at the least have the map editor and the minigames then it is not the definitive version, or even as feature rich as the original PSP version. The lack of PSP features was the only reason I didn't buy it on PSN when it came out.

GripShift is an awesome game. Back at release Mario Wynands posted on the forums (under the name Mario if I remember correctly) and pretty much answered every damn question we posted about the game, PSP development, New Zealand, and everything else. From what I understand he also posted at GameFaqs and some other webforums to answer questions about the game. GripShift coming to Live Arcade is awesome because it means more people can play it, and Sidhe can get more money. Double plus good.

Gripshift is a platformer, only instead of a dude jumping around you're a car. Each level is a series of floating roads and islands that you have to stay on top of to reach certain goals (like, get to the finish, get to the finish in a certain amount of time, find X many tokens, find a secret token, that sort of thing), all while trying to keep on top of the platforms and roads and moving things and flying through the air.

Also, apparently the map editor that shipped with the PSP version (which let you save maps and swap them with other people) was the one that the devs used to build every map in the game. I remember it being really easy to use. The only thing I didn't like about Gripshift was the music, but custom soundtracks fix that.

Assuming it hits at a decent price, It's an insta-buy for me.
