Weird 360 video output?

So I found Bullet Witch for fairly cheap and decided to get it as a christmas gift to myself. I put it in, and the video turns really dark with strange contrast. At first I suspected a cable glitch, but after restarting the 360 it's stuck that way, no matter the amount of cable jiggling -- and nothing was messing around with the cables when the game booted and the display went strange anyway.

It's a LG 22" widescreen with dual VGA/DVI input and the computer hooked up to the DVI, which looks just normal.

Suggestions? Is there some way to clear the cache?

I think this is your 360's way of thanking you for putting Bullet Witch in it.

Seriously though, if you're going to try clearing the cache the following might help.
Go to the system blade and then select memory.

Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Performing this function will also clear any software updates.

Nope, clearing the cache and redoing the initial setup did nothing whatsoever.

It could be a sign that your 360's on the way out. My first 360 did a similiar thing before it died. Have you tried contacting Xbox support?

Bah. Guess I'll yell at support then. Need to complain about DVD movies randomly freezing too.

And I got it in April. Yay.

Yeah, it definately sounds like it's dying.

    Doesn't help that it's Christmas/New Years. I don't expect you'll get it back quick.

Question though: does it ever tint red, green or yellow? If it does it's definately the 360 thats borked.

I've been plesantly surprised about how helpful Xbox support is. Everytime my original has died, they've been really good about helping.

Unlikea lot of support calls... *shakes fist at Sony Help call center*

After a bit of looking around I found this thread on teamxbox. The guy in the OP is having a problem similiar to yours.

    http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=489718

A number of things which are mentioned that might help you out:
Use VGA if you already arn't.
Try running it at a different resolution, eg 720p, 1080p.
Try adjust the brightness on your monitor.

Honestly, I think it's stuff you've already tried but it's worth putting out there.

Yeah, sounds like just my problem - I'm already using VGA though. I'll fiddle around a bit with settings.

this sounds silly, but did you try turning your tv off? my tv (lcd) does this from time to time; blues become green and everything is really dark -- always happens when turning on my 360; but going to ps3 or cable remains borked. the thing is, I don't really ever turn off the tv. and when I do turn it off, it actually takes about 20 seconds to turn off, for whatever reason, so if i just flip it off then back on, no go, but if i unplug it and plug it back in, or turn it off for 30 seconds or so and turn it back on, it's good. probably not it, but ya never know.

It's a TFT flatscreen, not what I'd call a "TV". But at any rate I'm leaving both 360 and screen unplugged tonight. Let's see if something's different in the morning.

Done that. It's the VGA cable, not the composite one, so I have no HDTV settings.

...okay. Left both 360 and monitor unplugged over the night, because hey, you never know.

    Today it's fine.

I'll still yell at support, because this worries the hell out of me.
