Yeah, I've been unable to bring myself to kill the Little Sisters.

"...How much is that puppy in the window....
...The one with the wagging tale..."
Amazing music added for effect in all the right places.
    also, amazing game.
    Favorite gun?
I'd go for the trap bolt in the crossbow.
I would shoot the trap bolts into people, they would shoot out like they're supposed to and then immediately kill the fool I put them into as soon as the line was complete. This technique worked on everyone, from the final boss to the lowliest splicer. Possible most powerful ammo in game.

My one annoyance, everytime I saved a little sister she would leave a needle full of adam on the ground that I could not touch. How lame is that?

Well, you get more ADAM, but in the long run the difference only works out to like 10 more ADAM per little sister.

Actually, the gifts after saving every 3 little sisters makes the "good path" end up having more ADAM

I am finally getting around to actually playing this, having stopped around Arcadia the first time.

I know most of what's happening, but the presentation is so good that I can't help but play through it for real.

No, the calculation of about 10 ADAM per sister is counting the gifts you get. Between gifts you have significantly less. Anyway, the other stuff you get with the gifts are completely worth the 10 less ADAM.

So, getting towards the end of the game:
For the love of God, why did they include an escort mission? That's almost never any fun, and it definitely is not any fun in Bioshock.

The little sister dies in roughly half a second if someone gets to her. This makes it very difficult, without either tons of proximity mines or memorizing how many splicers attack you from which direction by trial-and-error.

Agreed, but it's not like you run out of them; you get a new one if you mess up, and simply resume the mission.

No, the calculation of about 10 ADAM per sister is counting the gifts you get. Between gifts you have significantly less. Anyway, the other stuff you get with the gifts are completely worth the 10 less ADAM.

    180*3= 540
    (100*3)+200= 500
a difference of 40 adam every 3 little sisters, so,
    40/3= 13.333

I don't know how many little sisters there are in the game, but I think I acquired a total of 5 teddy bears, so,

    13.333*5= 65.665.

A lost of maybe one plasmid over the course of the game? oooh, big deal. The gene tonics and money and shit in the bears is way more worth it.

    Random YouTube video calculation says:

    Rescue:
    80 Adam each sister.
    3 Sisters = 240 Adam + 200 Adam as gift = 440 Adam.

    Harvest:
    160 Adam each Sister.
3 harvested Sisters = 480 Adam (no gift).

You get 40 Adam more by harvesting 3 Little Sisters than rescuing.

Total Adam of all 21 Little Sisters in game:

    If rescued = 80 x 21 = 1680 from Sisters + 1400 from gifts = 3080 Adam.

    If harvested = 160 x 21 = 3360 from Sisters.

    pshhh.

    Whatever.

so maybe 280 adam is something to consider, all I'm saying is, I did mostly saving and I came through the game feeling like a god with my plasmids.

I didn't really need any more.

True, I just personally didn't want to lose any of them.

Dragging up this thread again, but I finally got myself to finish this because I got distracted by other games.

This game was less than perfect for me, for a couple of reasons. But before I rant, I want to say I loved the game.

Combat seemed repetitive in spite of the many plasmids and options for killing bad guys. I also had trouble aiming, but mind you I was playing on the 360 and I've always felt gimped aiming with a controller instead of a mouse, so that may have contributed to some of my combat difficulties. Aiming plasmids was a bit dicey as well. Even when I had full damage versions of plasmids I hard time aiming them to hit the fast splicers. My crosshairs would be right on the bastard and the flames would explode behind the slicer. Pinpoint precision was necessary to score a hit, so I gave up on that unless they were already in my face.

Some combat plasmids were pretty lame. The freezing one did a good job of freezing people but it did no real damage. It meant you had to follow up with a melee attack or some other weapon. The same went for the frozen nitro spray.

Hacking was cool, but some safes were uncrackable even with full tonics. The random bad squares could make the puzzle unsolvable, or you'd run out of good squares of the type you needed. Only 2 drones at once was a technical limitation that bugged me. Hacking cameras helped prevent surprises from behind.

My biggest gripe was the age old gaming design sin, that of magically spawning bad guys in seemingly never ending waves. For crap's sake, I'd clear a room and some slicer would jump me from behind. This was a bit scary at first, but in the final levels it became damn annoying in my effort to finish the game. Even with fully upgraded weapons, many of the slicers took up a lot of ammo, so I found myself running out a lot in the final levels. People say there's too much ammo to be found, but I did not find that true at all when enemies would suddenly reappear after being killed. I found myself in the respawn chamber way too many times simply because I got killed by guys who weren't there a second ago. This is why it felt so repetitive to me, and I'm unlikely to play it again because of that.

The story was fantastic and I have a few comments and questions:
*Somehow I missed the part on why Ryan wanted me (his son) to kill him. Was it guilt? A sense of failure? Twisted suicide?

*Who were the Big Daddies? I don't see where that got explained. My guess is that they were boys like the player who were genetically grown for the purpose. If so, the good ending doesn't give any hints as to their fate, only the girls are shown having a normal life.

    * The final boss battle was remarkably easy but interesting. The visual cues as to which types of plasmid or damage he was vulnerable to made it a quick effort.

    * Somehow I missed the opportunity to kill Cohen after I finished the art piece. I never encountered him again, and I thought I searched every room. Is it on the same level or another level thereafter? I feel like I missed a good part of the story not to mention an achievement.

I'll be quoting the latest PCGamer to address points 1 and 4...
"Seeing his own son come to kill him drives home to Ryan that Rapture is lost. He compromised his ideals to keep it alive, and for a long time he couldn't accept that it was doomed, but this emotional kick in the teeth finally snaps him out of his denial. If you can resist your conditioning and prove to him that you are a man and not a slave, he'll have something to live for. If not, he'll die by own own choice, not by yours and you'll see for yourself that you're only a puppet."

"Don't kill Sander Cohen in Fort Frolic. In his apartment in the Mercury Suites, you'll find two splicers dancing to an old gramophone. Disturbing them provokes Cohen into coming downstairs."

Thanks! Can I still get credit for that achievement by picking up an older saved game?
