To give a short update on what's happening with the game, it hit alpha in November and the Dev team has been just crushing it as far as bug-fixing, tuning and really making this game super fun from a gameplay experience.
Although the script of the game is essentially complete, Tycho continues to work with it daily, as every item, attack and word in the game has whatever the hell his secret sauce is. All I know is that I've been exposed to the same dialog and writing for a year now, and it's still insanely funny... you hear me say it whenever people ask me what it's like to work with Gabe/Tycho, but they're goddamn unbelievable.
Gabe is currently working on the direction for the last cut scene on our plate, which all look super cool. Kiko and he continue to work with Hothead and their art team as far as aesthetic (even stuff as granular as the game site itself). Those of you that have been waiting for an animated series will really get a kick out of the game. The animated sections are super cool.
From a personal level, I'll say the experience has been enlightening
- we're exposed to hundreds and hundreds of games every year, but watching the title transition from an early build that admittedly we announced probably a little too soon back in march (before any of the real lighting was integrated ... god it looks so much better now) to something that i genuinely want to play made me realize two things:
One - how easy it is for games to take a wrong turn. These things are complex as hell and I can totally see how a team that isn't as tight as Hothead could let things turn to shit and two (related) how valuable having a vet team is. I know i'm sounding a bit like a broken record at this point, but the Hothead guys have been rad. We've put a lot of trust in them to get the gameplay to a "great" level, and I really have confidence they'll be able to deliver.
Soups, is this what you were looking for? ;)
